During the recent opening of Goblin's Grove a group of travelers who gathered at the tavern to investigate these fabled catacombs made an amazing discovery. The group, lead by Baroness Marina of Northguard discovered an amorphous blob of the Essence in a much larger concentration than has been found before.
It appears that the villain Trimak had also made the discovery and was attempting to drive the travelers from the area. At the bequest of Lord Magistrate Hollow, the Baroness lead the visitors in an assault on the cave lair of Trimak's forces comprised of Ogres, Trolls, and Gremlins. The Baroness' group was successful in clearing the cave and capturing the earth circle within with no casualties. The Lord Magistrate later destroyed the circle and the cave was sealed off.
A team of scholars from the academy has been dispatched to Goblin's Grove with a significant military escort to investigate the blob. As such Goblin's Grove has been temporarily shut down to visitors. Lord Magistrate Hollow was not happy with the development but did state that he would cooperate in any way he could to help the situation, and that his tavern would of course be open to off duty personnel during the investigation.
Although the investigation team has not revealed much thus far it has been revealed that the blob of essence surges with energy everyday between the hours of 5pm and 7pm. It is not clear what the full nature of this energy surge is however while it is surging the blob possesses the ability to recharge any of the smaller shards that are held against it and concentrated upon for 1 full minute. Although it has been established that only one shard may be recharged at a time by a single person, there does not seem to be a limit, beyond physical space, as to how many different people can use the blob for this purpose at one time.
I will continue to post notices here at the academy as the investigation team reveals new information regarding the phenomenon.
