The group S.E.S consists of three girls; Sea (Bada), Eugene, and Shoo, which brings up the group name S.E.S. Shoo, was the first member chosen for the group. She had been living in Japan for most of her life. Her father and her had flown over to Korea, so that she could audition, and she was accepted. Sea, also known as Bada, was the next member chosen (she later became the lead singer). Sea was discovered by an SM Entertainment agent, when she was singing in a school performance. Eugene was the final member to be chosen. Eugene had been living in Guam, and was attending high school. However, her mother sent in a tape of Eugene dancing, singing, and posing, but others believe it was actually Eugene who sent the tape. At the end of 1996, the three of them were brought together, and were trained for about a year. On November 27, 1997, S.E.S deubuted with their hit song "I'm Your Girl," and in February 1998, the group won the #1 trophy! Their next song, "Oh! My Love," also won number one. So far, they were becoming extremely successful. S.E.S was becoming very popular in other countries as well. In April of 1998, the trio made their first appearance in Japan, where they sang various songs. In late October, they released their first Japanese album, which included their title song "Meguri Au Sekai." In November 1998, S.E.S made a comeback with their second album and their new hit single, "Dreams Come True." In March of 1999, they released their next single, "Nuh Reul Sarang Hae" (I Love You). After, S.E.S released their second Japanese single "Yume Wo Kasanete," and in June their third Japanese single,"(Ai) Toine No Hokori," was released. On October 31, 1999, S.E.S made another comeback with their third album and with the new hit, "Love." In this album, S.E.S moved away from the cute look and took on a more mature look. For this album, Shoo and Sea had dyed their hair blond and orange, which resulted in being banned from KBS. In November, they came out with their fourth Japanese single "Twinkling of Paradise," and in December with "Sign of Love." After, they released their next Korean song, "Twilight Zone," and were accepted back to KBS, when they dyed their hair color back.
