A Message From the Editor:

Welcome fellow kindred. We have come together to help determine the course of our society in the Eternal Struggle that is the Jyhad, and over the next 6 weeks, we shall be trying to enable our fellow clan members take control of the important Port City of Baltimore.

As some of you may be aware, White Wolf have sanctioned a month of tournaments, the outcome of which will determine how the next expansion for The Masquerade RPG will go, some books, and even possibly cards in the next expansion. This is all based around the fall of the Sabbat's power in the Port City of Baltimore, and the struggle of the Camarilla and independent clans to wrestle control of this city to their own ends. See the tournament guidelines for further details, but I can reveal to you that you will receive a copy of a promo only card - Meddling of Semsith - only at the tournament. This will only be available at these tourneys, but you will be able to play them in the deck straight away.

There isn't much news other than this, so I will leave you to read the rest of the newsletter now, in peace until we meet again.

May the night be yours!

Andy

Yes people, you read it correctly. I am running one of these tournaments. All are welcome, as these tourneys are partly designed for introductions to tournament play, as well as influencing the way the story of the world of darkness goes. I hope many people can make it, but you must contact me first, or else if you are not there at 6.30pm on the night, you may lose out.

Decks must be between 60 and 90 cards, and follow the standard deck construction guidelines as stated in the tournament floor rules. As well as this, you may wish to add the promo card to your deck (this can take the deck to 91 cards), and your crypt must contain at least 75% of the same clan. (e.g. at least 9 out of a 12 card crypt must be the same clan). The crypts will be checked before hand. I also need to know your VEKN number (I can register you if you aren't already) and I would like to know your decks constitution. You can bring this with you. Whatever deck wins, I want to put in the newsletter immediately following the tourney. These will of course take the place of the usual temple meetings.

It works reasonably well in two player, and using the solitare game on the Game Players Network, has an average score of 7 1/3. It is slow to build up, but once you have spent a few turns doing this, the deck picks up quite substantially.

A useful tool when designing decks is David Anderson-Davilla's Elder Library Deck Builder. It is now available for downloading. You can access the download site from the White-Wolf page http://www.white-wolf.com/vtes.

Next issue, I will be looking at some clans, and will create a decklist or two, that will be suitable for the Storyline tourney. Anyone who wishes to submit a declist is welcome to do so. There are now a few people reading this newsletter, and I hope that some of the newer player gained from the demonstration evening will want to read it as well. As experienced Methuselahs, it is our responsibility to teach the young neonates, and some decklists will be good. Mail me a list, and it will appear here.

Final Word:

I told you a may run out of ideas soon (also time unfortunately, as work has been quite hectic, and I have been teaching someone the game at lunchtimes). All contributions welcome. Promotions to Primogen of Cambridge are available to all those who help with this.
