Tournament Winning decklist

Final Word

A Message From the Editor:

As February has drawn to a close, so have the Storyline Tournaments. The unofficial website had the Lasombra and Ravnos clans tied for first place with 7 tournament wins each, and by sect the Camarilla had 21 wins, Sabbat 19 and Independents 14. We'll have to see now how this goes with White Wolf. The good news, however, is that we are likely to see Storyline events being an annual thing, which is great news.

For the Cambridge Tourney, we had a good time, and I hope everyone enjoyed it. 10 Methuselahs turned up, including some new players and out of town players. The tournament was won by Andrew S Davidson, who came up from London both nights, with his Malkavian Antitribu deck, which I have attached as this issues decklist.

Almost straight of the back of this one, I am organising the next tournament in the UK on Sunday 10th March. See below for more details. It should be great fun, as it is being held in Games and Puzzles, and the new owners seem really nice people, who are keen to promote anything that is a game.

Around the UK, a lot of people have started to play Setites (always good to see my clan become strong) and at the last few tourneys I have been to outside of Cambridge, there has never been less than 5 Setite Decks. Nice to see this, and I hope it continues this way. Of course, if you would all like to prove me wrong by turning upto the next tournament with a non-setite deck, then please feel free.

Remember, there is usually always someone with a deck on them on any Tuesday at the Graduate, so please feel free to come along. I am also starting a box of cards that you may help yourself to cards from, as long as when there are cards you don't need anymore, you put them in it. So far it is going well. Thanks to all who are using it correctly.

May the night be yours!

Andy

A Timetable of Planned Temple Meetings:

Regular meetings are held on Tuesdays, 7.30pm at the Cornerhouse Pub, Newmarket Road.

Next meeting: Tuesday 5th March2002.

Tournament: Free States Cambridge. Sunday 10th March 2002, 10am. Games and Puzzles, Green Street.

This is a fully sanctioned tournament, so you will need your VEKN numbers for this. (You can register on the day if you don't yet have one). It will follow all the Standard Rules, and be 3 rounds and a final. You may have a crypt of any 12+ vampires (no clan restrictions this time). The library must be between 60 and 90 cards, and may not include any of the following cards:

Any cards relating to Ante, Monocle of Clarity, Rowan Ring, Madness of the Bard or Return to Innocence. All other cards are legal and there are no card limits.

If anyone needs any more info about the tournament, email me at ajb@sanger.ac.uk and I'll give you it all.

"So, the Sabbat are losing control of Baltimore are they? How will that affect us?" my master asked.

"I don't know, surely that gives our clan the opportunity to take over a major port in the US, vital for our supply networks."

"Good, I see you are paying attention after all my young neonate. You may be ready to take over Cambridge, but I do not feel you are quite ready for this, though. It is being taken care of. Over the last few nights, the Kindred around the globe have been struggling to put their mark on the City. It is giving us the opportunity to eliminate the Prince of Cambridge without much hinderance."

"Jocelyn is a weak Prince, she always has been. I could have taken her out months ago. However, I understand your wisdom in this. The Justicars will be busy dealing with matters elsewhere, so we should have an easy ride. I have chosen my followers wisely, master. I have corrupted a Malkavian and a Gangrel, who are happy to help put me up as ruler of this city. They have become disinterested in their Sect, and would welcome an 'independent' viewpoint on things around here." I knew my master wanted me to corrupt a couple of strong members. A few blood dolls laced with a narcotic helped me gain influence over them. They were easy pawns to get, but nice strong ones.

"Well done, now all you need is the following information. Tomorrow night, the Prince has called a meeting in the Corn Exchange with her Primogen. The meeting is highly secret, so there is likely to be little security to protect them.

"A Nosferatu called Agatha will guide you through the sewers to a hidden basement underneath the building. From there, you and your followers will attack. The Brujah primogen is quite fierce, and is likely to anger quickly. Deal with him first. If you manage this, then the rest will be easy. I have stocked you with some Dragon Breath Rounds for your guns, however, the Gangrel may have some other ways of dealing with them. Leave the Prince until last. Make her watch as her allies are slowly killed one by one. She needs to know that we are going to be the ruling clan. We are going to destroy the Camarilla and the Sabbat. We will be victorious in the Final Nights ahead."

"Yes, my master."

A Decklist:

This was the winning deck in the Cambridge Storyline Tournament. Don't Get Mad, Get Even
by Andrew Davidson

This is the deck which won the Baltimore Storyline event held in Cambridge, England. Many thanks to Andy Brown for organising the event which was a most congenial one.

The deck was first built during a draft at Origins and has been growing ever since. It would normally have one more card, the Monocle of Clarity, but that was banned during this event. The Malkavian Games were also bought specially for the deck. They require some willpower to play as, without the Monocle to help, they are a crapshoot. But no guts, no glory! The swings that the games provide are good for getting you out in front. It's no good being mediocre in a tournament - it's better to be either very bad or very good.

The deck expects to have regular rucks with combat decks and tries to have enough nasty surprises to make them wary of bullying you. Hence the title of the deck. Claven showed up quite often in this event and so another name for the deck might be Going Postal!

Final Word:

Some thing is life are bad,
They can really make you mad,
Other things just make you swear and curse.
When you're chewing on life's Gristle
Don't grumble, give a whistle
And this'll help you wake up Set
And
Always look on the Bright side of Set
Always look on the Bright side of Set
Life's a piece of Shit,
When you look at it,
Life's a laugh and Death's a joke it's true
You'll see it's all a show
Keep'em Laughing as you go
And they'll be just as corrupted as you
And
Always look on the Bright side of Set
Always look on the Bright side of Set
