About Sev Rickman
Breif History
It isn't known when Sev Rickman was born, exactly, but she most certainly came of age in a dark, packed, cinema during a performance of Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone sometime in November 2001. It wasn't until the following March that she discovered the wonderful world of Harry Potter fanfiction and produced her first published work the following April, to average critical aclaim. Since then she has grown and grown in confidence and her works have reached tens, if not hundreds, of people and left them moved. This site is meant as a show-ground for her works, and any other author who wishes to align themselves with this most wondrous author will be welcomed with open arms. |
Reality
The above isn't exactly false, but it isn't really true. Sev Rickman would, I suppose, be described as my muse by some, and is the pen name I have adopted for my writing, both here and where I started out at Fanfiction.net. And the site is mainly here to get around the ridiculous cencorship at ff.net, any other authors wishing to do the same are welcome to hitch a ride. So perhaps you want my real history then? Or maybe you'd settle for my real name at least, yes? Well the second is easy, I am currently known as Claire Caswell in the real world. This is however not my 'birth' name, but I don't want you to know what was. Now what about my history? Well that's a much longer story. In breif, I'm a student of Chemistry at Swansea University in welsh Wales, the country of my fore-mothers (my mother's family, duh!) and passed my birthday some time in the last 365 days. No I'm not going to give the exact specifics but I dare you to find somewhere where you can. (I do assure you though, that I am old enough to read all of my own stories!) My writing career (If you can call it that) started when I was five and I made books of pictures stapled together. From there I progressed, over a decade or so, to starting many many stories but never really getting past the first few chapters and /or plot outline. Anyone who has followed my publishing habits since I started at fanfiction.net might say I've not gone past that stage yet, but I beg to differ. Since nearly failing my English GCSE and putting up with an English teacher who hated me, I haven't had a very high oppinion of my work, but there are people out there who disagree. If you disagree with me too, I'd love to hear from you. |
Other misc. stuff
Well as some of you might have noticed, I have more than a passing affection for slash, and the pairing Harry Potter/Severus Snape. My favourite character in the HP books has to be the dark and mysterious Professor Severus Snape, and I do my best to keep him as faithful to the books as plotishly possible. My other forte is in the area of angst. For some totally unknown reason, my life is most compatable with this genre, and they do always say you should write about what you know! (Not that all the plots of my stories have parallels in my own life!) The name Sev Rickman is derived firstly from Severa, the female form of Severus, and the second is taken from the wonderful actor who plays Severus in the movies, Alan Rickman. It is in no way taken from either of my real names. (However my original characters might owe their names to combinations of the three.) Also I don't just write Harry Potter, I have many original ideas floating around, and may at some later stage add an area here where you can come and read them and pass on any comments, humorous or other wise. But for now I am happy for them to never see the lights of the Information Super Highway. Harry Potter isn't my only passion in life, just my main one. Other things I just happen to be interested in are: Terry Pratchett's wonderful creation Discworld; the comic genius of Red Dwarf; LGB society; Medieval and Roman history; Latin; Celtic stuff; the infinitly absorbing TheSims computer game; other assorted computer games and the playing thereof; Christianity; Annie Lennox/Euythmics music; music in general; Chemistry (but not the practicals); and last, but hopefully not least, my interesting and near non-existant social life. |
