Daisy as a six year old, during her fifth lactation.
We bought Daisy when she was a yearling.  The famliy that was selling her had just lost their house in a fire, and they needed to sell her quickly.  When we went to where Daisy was being kept, I couldn't believe my eyes.  She was skin and bones, and tied to a post in the ground.  Out of pity for this doe, we took her home, and had her bred.  The following spring, she gave birth to two beautiful little does, and to our surprise, had one of the most gorgeous udders we had ever seen.  Once she put some weight on, Daisy was stunning.  Her only set back was weak pasterns, most likely due to mal-nutrition as a kid.  We wanted to show Daisy, but her registration paperwork was never sent in, and was lost in the house fire.  We did trace down her breeder, but by that time, they could not put together the paper work needed for registration.  Daisy was, however, a purebred French Alpine, but we had to register her as NOA for show purposes. Sadly, Daisy passed away March 3,2003. She had endured a hard first year of her life, but we are happy to have owned her, and she will be greatly missed!
The Stover's Waltzing Matilda
NOA Alpine
DOB. 6/24/1999
Sire: Unregistered
Dam: The Stover's Daisy Duke
Matilda reminds us a lot of her mother, Daisy.  She has a very nice udder, although she developed mastitis at age three, so will not be shown. She is a purebred American Alpine, but her sire was being leased by a breeder when Daisy was bred, and there were problems geting a service memo, so, we registered her NOA as well. Matilda kidded with triplets on 2/26/03! One Doe and two bucks, sired by Wistful Winds Beau Pierre. The bucks are sold, and the doe is being retained.
