SPOILERS AHEAD: EPISODE 36 and 37 summaries^_~
- Episode 36 -
When we first meet Kouga, Inuyasha and gang are in a village that have been threatened by a pack of wolves. Strangely enough, these wolfs belong to Kouga's tribe. The village is the actual one from which Rin came from. Inuyasha, of course, whips the wolves' tails and sends them running. Kouga, answering the wolves' call for help, challenges Inuyasha to a battle.
Kouga is astonished as Kagome tells Inuyasha that he has Shikon shards embedded in his arm and two of his legs. However, when Inuyasha draws out a Kaze No Kizu, Kouga runs away, yelling for his tribe to retreat. This is because he says that he can sense trouble coming, and Kouga is right...
So, after this, the Yasha gang bury the dead villagers. Miroku has a chat with Inuyasha commenting on the unhappiness and death the Shikon has brought. Inuyasha just finishes this off with a "feh." Meanwhile, Kagome is asking Shippou about the wolf tribe and their power. (They were out collecting wood for Sango) Later, when they bring back the kindling, Sango askes where Kiara is. Kagome answers that Kiara is with Inuyasha. Inuyasha is basically practising his Kaze No Kizu (Wound of the Wind) on Kiara. What hes doing is fairly simple enough; since Kiara and Inuyasha are both demons, theres bound to be youki. Inuyasha can then sense the collision between them and try to improve his attack. However, unaware, there are three wolves spying on them. The wolves return to Kouga and tell him about Tensaiga and its power.
The next day, the inuyasha gang cruise around searching for the Wolf tribe. Suddenly Kouga ambushes them, knocking Inuyasha into the water. (They were on a high cliff) Kouga grabs Kagome and runs off with her on his back. They run into a bunch of Gokuraku-chou and Kouga askes Kagome whether there are any shikon shards with them. Kagome says no and Kouga keeps on running. Meanwhile, Miroku had pulled Inuyasha out of the water and Sango had returned saying that she had lost Kouga's trail when one of the Gokuraku-chou attacked her.
BUT when Kagome is kidnapped, Shippou gets dragged along. Shippou, being quite smart for a change, uses his abilities to drop funny talking mushrooms on the ground, creating a trail for the Inuyasha gang to follow. Unfortunately, some of the mushrooms were eaten by Kouga's patrolling wolves thinking they were food...
Kouga's reason for needing more shards is to help him defeat the Gokuraku-chou's leader. The Gokuraku-chou are full youkai that resemble birds in a way; they have an enormous body with wings and a human lower body complete with a human head on top of that. The Gokuraku-chou have been preying on his wolves, and so Kouga needs to get more powerful so he can get rid of the evil birds for good... (Gokuraku-chou means Bird of Paradise) Kouga plans on making his tribe invincible by gathering all of the Shikon shards, and he realizes he'll need Kagome to make this happen.
And so, we end episode 36 with Inuyasha bashing up some Goku-raku-chou...
- Episode 37 -
We have some flashbacks about what happened from Kagome, and we see that Kagome is thinking of ways to escape. Shippou then turns himself into a Kouga form, and walks out of the cave with Kagome. However, the wolves are a little suspicious, mainly because 'Kouga' now has a new puffy tail just like Shippous and Kouga's voice doesn't sound like Kouga - its obviously Shippou. Anyway, one of the wolves bites 'Kouga's' tail and breaks the transformation. Kagome then grabs a spear, and Shippou, making a run for it. Kagome finds a dead end at a cliff and yells to Shippou, telling him to escape in his pink balloon form and look for help.
Now, the wolves are angry so they decide to attack Kagome when the real Kouga shows up. Kouga decides that he'll make Kagome his "woman" saying any woman who is strong enough to detect shards and use a bow well is fit enough to be his "woman." Kagome slaps Kouga and the wolves are freaked out thinking that Kagome is one dead girl. However, Kagome tells Kouga that the only guy for her is Inuyasha and he was just bein rude. So therefore, Kouga tells Kagome that he'll destroy this "Inuyasha character" so that she'll have nothing to worry about and then she can be his woman. How kind is that?^_~
Meanwhile, the rest of the gang are trying to find Kagome, and they discover these mushrooms that Shippou has dropped. These mushrooms create a trail and the gang follow this to find Kagome and Kouga... As we know, the gang were attacked by Goku-raku-chou in the last episode. We continue off here. While they were fighting, Miroku suggests to Inuyasha that they get caught by the evil birds so that the birds will carry them to the wolves' den. Inuyasha goes along with the plan and strangely enough, hes the one who gets snagged by the birds while Sango and Miroku ride Kiara a few metres back...
Now, they find Shippou on the way who says the Gokuraku-chou are enemies of the wolves and Inuyasha gets away from the bird who was holding him - angry and peeved at Miroku. Miroku acts innocent and shrugs, saying they should go look for Kagome. And off they go, leaving a peeved Inuyasha behind.
Back to Kouga and Kagome, the wolves are trying to attack the Gokuraku-chou. Kouga lets his tribe fight below and take Kagome up the mountainside to search for the Shikon Shards. Suddenly, a huge bird appears and we find out that this is the Gokurakuchou no Oyadama - the leader of the birds.
Kouga leaves Kagome with two of his tribe members, grabs a random spear and rushes back up the mountain side.
Below, one of Kouga's family calls Kagome Ne-san, meaning 'sis.' The guy gets attacked by a Gokuraku-chou and Kagome saves him with her arrow, demolishing the ugly bird. Two more Gokuraku-chou are about to attack them when Inuyasha arrives at the scene, saves the day and Miroku rounds it off by using that air void of his and sucking up everything.
Kouga yells to Inuyasha saying that he doesn't have the time to fight him just now and to 'keep his hands off his woman.' Inuyasha is peeved and rushes up there to cut Kouga into pieces. However, Kouga tries to attack the big bird with his arm but however, looses the Shikon Shard embedded in it. The demon bird had clamped its jaws on Kouga's arm, trying to bit it off. Instead, the shikon shard came flying out and the demon bird swallowed it up; thus becoming stronger then before. Kouga, however, doesn't give up. He continues to attack, despite the fact that Inuyasha is trying to also attack him... Inuyasha now launches a whooping ass-kicking attack - of course, the Kaze No Kizu. *insert heroic and death music here*
So of course, Kouga is injured and Inuyasha kind of saves the day... @_@
Inuyasha, still seeking revenge, tries his hand at destroying Kouga. But Kagome stops Inuyasha from fighting the injured Kouga, and protects him from Inuyasha. Kagome calls Kouga, 'Kouga-kun' which is a more friendlier term... Kagome then yells out the magical word, 'sit!' and Inuyasha hurts his head again. Inuyasha then thinks that Kagome really does love Kouga and is hurt emotionally... Inuyasha basically doubts Kagome and thinks that while he was away, Kagome was returning Kouga's affections to him.
Kagome desparately tries to convince Inuyasha that she stills loves him but Inuyasha, being a stubborn fool, doesn't believe her. So Kagome get peeved and she yells at him, calling him a "baka" and runs off back through the well, and back to her own time.
Inuyasha is left to mope around, and express his anger towards Kouga.
