The Next Best Thing

Chapter 2

"Yes Ayame, you are dreaming" said Kouga.

Ayame smiled, "I'm so glad I'm dreaming about you, Kouga".

Kouga smiled back,"Silly girl." he said gently to her.

He slowly bent he's head down and kissed her gently on the lips. Ayame's eyes wild then she closed her eyes, feeling Kouga's tongue moving in her mouth and then she returned his kiss. Kouga didn't know why he was kissing her, he didn't even love her!

'I want to replace the pain in your heart by this kiss, Ayame. Cause I'm the one who was hurting your feelings. Even though you think this is a dream, you deserve to have good dreams'

Kouga then broke the kiss, because he heard her folks is coming.

"Wow..this is the best dream I ever had." said Ayame, she smiled at him.

He smiled back. "Close your eyes Ayame, have some rest" Kouga whispered in her ear. She did everything he said. Kouga gently stroked her cheek with he's thumb, and kissed her forehead, 'Bye Ayame'. Then quickly he jump up to the high tree, and hide himself.

A minute later, Ayame's gang gathered around her.One of them licked Ayame's cheek, trying to wake her up. But she didn't move at all. They started to talk to each other, but Kouga couldn't hear them very well, but he knew something was wrong with her.

'What?! She should be fine by now! She's not a human! Demon's are stronger than a human! what's wrong with her?!....oh..no! She must be poisoned from the snake!'

Kouga didn't waste anytime, and he jumped off the tree to see her closer. Kouga tried to get closer to her but all the wolves were ready to attack him to protect their leader.

Kouga stepped back and said, "It's ok! It's me Kouga, can I see her?" he asked. The wolves remembered his scent, and then all of them stepped back.

'I should take her to Ginta! He knows a lot about poison.' "Let's go guys, follow me" Kouga left without waiting for her folks, like he always did to his gang.

"Kouga?! Oh guys! Kouga's back!" Ginta yelled at the tribe when he saw the small storm heading their way. The storm stopped in front of Ginta, he blinked, and saw Kouga. Looking down he saw Ayame in his arms.

'WHAT!! Kouga and Ayame? She's wearing a towel? Both of them wet!? That means! EWWWWW!!!'A thousand of question popped into Ginta's head, and to the looks of it, everybody was thinking something dirty.

Kouga blinked at the look on Ginta's and everybody else's faces when they saw him hold Ayame.

"Why are you standing there looking goofy for? Ginta! Help me!" Kouga couldn't take it any more he kinda knew what they were thinking, "Come on! Let's go inside! You are the only one who knows a lot about the poison, and stop looking at me like that! I'll explain it to you guys later! Come on Ginta!" Kouga ran into the cave that he used to sleep in and laid Ayame down gently. Ginta and the others followed behind him. Ayame started to shake a little bit, so Kouga tryied his best to keep her warm by stroking her arms.

"What happened to her, Kouga?" Ginta asked him.

"Snake bite, and shes poisoned. Can you save her?" replied Kouga, still stroking her arms.

"Yes, I can. But I have to get some medicine from the high mountain. Kouga can you go? You are a lot faster then I am"

"Yes, I'll go! Where is the mountain at?"

"You have to ask the half demon named Jinaje, he's the one who has the medicine. You have to go to the south mountain" said Ginta.

"Ok, you stay here with her while I'm gone, and don't let anybody in. Don't you have any idea of taking that towel off of her! Got that?!" Kouga ordered him.

"Oh Kouga! You know I won't!"

"Yes, and you better not. Ok! I'm leaving" Kouga turned around and had to stop.

"WHAT ARE YOU GUYS DOING IN HERE?!! GET OUT NOW!!" Kouga yelled at everybody in his way.

"AHHH!! WE'RE GOING! WE'RE GOING!" everybody ran out when Kouga bared his fangs. Kouga was then gone with the wind like always.

"Hey! Jinaje! Are you here?!" Kouga yelled at the small house. The big giant half demon half human came out of the house.

"Are you Jinaje?" Kouga asked.

"Yes I am, what do you want from me?" He asked, his big eyes glowing.

"Oh! Can I have some medicine from you? It's for my friend, she's poisoned from a snake bite." said Kouga.

"Oh! Okay, wait here." Jinaje walked back to his house.

'That was easy.' thought Kouga.

Jinaje came back with a little bag. "Here you go" he handed the little bag to Kouga.

"Thanks!!" he said with the smile on his face.

"Can I help you with any thing else?" Jinake asked.

"Oh! I was wondering, do you have some extra blankets in your house?" he asked.

"Oh ya! I have a lot of them, my neighbors like to give me stuff all the time after I had saved them" He walked back intto his house, and back with a blanket, "Here you go" he handed it to Kouga.

"Thank you! I bet your neighbors loves you a lot!" said Kouga, causing Jinaje to blush.

"I better go now! Thanks again! Bye!"

"Bye." Then he headed back to his cave as fast as he could.
