Fitted Sheets

<< Actually does anyone have a quick and easy way to make fitted sheets? >>

Chris: I measure the width of the mattress + the depth x 2 + 4"(that goes under the mattress, 2" on each side. Then do the same of the length. This is how you would cut the fabric. i.e. full mattress is 54" x 70  "54"+ 6"x2+4" = 70" 70" + 6"x2 + 4" = 86". so you would cut your fabric 70" x 86", then cut out of each corner a 8" square. Miter the cut out part, and then put elastic either at just the top & bottom, or I usually put it all the way around and use a 3/8" swimwear elastic because of the better stretch and it seems to be longer lasting. For the elastic I use 50% of the actual size of the mattress, thus for a full mattress I would use, 54+54+70+70 = 248 x 50% = 124" of elastic. Divide the elastic and sheet edge in either 8th's or 16th's and then just serge it on. I hope this all makes sense, if not just email me privately.  Anne St. ClairNeedle Nook Fabrics, Wichita, KS sweethomes.com/cust/needle.htm
