Fleece Throw

Jeanne..I made a throw to match the Livingroom drapes I made for a friends new home. One side was the drapery material ( the room gets no direct sunlight..we used a gorgeous rayon challis) and the other side was MM Polartec. I left the ends with of the Polar tech 4" longer than the rayon, serged the 2pieces together on the side, turned it right side out. Then pressed the rayon under & did a straight stitch all the way around the throw. I cut a "fringe"out of the longer ends of fleece, then pinned the throw from the middle & did "tyes" every 6" in 1/16" grosgrain ribbon. I made square knots with the ribbon& a simple bow on top, with a tiny dot of Fraycheck on the inside of the bowknot. It has survived weekly washings for a good year now..and looks as good as it did the day it was made. total time to make this, including the tying was under 1 hour. but..it was not a pieced top..so figure 1 hour from the time the top is completed to being finished. For a boy's or more masculine looking throw, do half of a square knot dot with a tiny ammount of Fraycheck & finish the knot..it will hold and not beat all scratchy. If ribbon does not sound "right" some heavy woven fishing line that fits with the color of the top would look a lot like surgical sutures../g/ Hope this helps! Mercy
