Matching Plaids

Matching up plaids is a real cinch if you CUT it out properly - that's the pain!!!!!   If you're going to cut with the fabric folded in half (as you most probably will) then take special care to pin (or baste, if you're more comfortable with that) not just the selvage edge but also all through the fabric making sure that the plaid is matching up front and back all over. (Clear as mud???)  When pinning the pattern pieces to the fabric make sure the notches are placed on the same parts of the plaid on both pattern pieces.Once you're up to sewing the pieces together I personally place a lot more pins in a plaid than in a solid color fabric but it's absolutely NO PROBLEM to make the match unless it's a very slippery fabric like silk, etc.Good luck and enjoy!
