I also use netting to make these but mine are round like a ball..

Use a K hook. Cut strips 2" wide crosswise of netting. Save scraps for stuffing.
Row 1: Ch 4 and join with slip stitch
Row 2: Ch 1; make 12 SC in ring and join
Row 3: Ch 1; make 24 SC (2 in each previous round) and join
Row 4: Ch 1; SC in each 24
Now - turn inside out and crochet in BACK loop only:
Row 5: Repeat row 4. Do not turn.
Row 6: SC skipping one stitch down to 12 SC. Continue around (not joining) until center is same size as beginning circle. One SC - skip one, etc. Pull
end through and push ends of net inside. When joining, do both loops--not just back.
Stuff with extra scraps.
I make cotton dish cloths and hanging towels to match. Makes great "extra" gifts and everyone loves them!!
