I recently had a bad reaction to some soap, and wound up with a jillion little tiny blisters on my hands from the allergic reaction. The blisters have departed, leaving little snaggies of dry skin to catch on everything, especially the silk charmeuse I'm currently working on. A friend caught me peeling some of my snaggies and marched out to the kitchen and came back with a couple of teaspoons of sugar and a couple of teaspoons of oil, made a paste, plopped it in my hands, and told me to rub hard. The granulated sugar (which does not dissolve in oil) did a nice job of sanding off the snaggies, while the oil kept the rest of my skin from being badly abused. After I washed my hands with a little soap and water, they were in MUCH better shape, and I wasn't snagging the silk anymore. :-) Thought this might be useful to someone else, perhaps dealing with the aftermath of chapped hands.
