Snaps Tips
Lynda Shamitz, Cape Cod
I just came from a Sulky class and saw a neat way
to have a snap front closure on a vest, jacket, etc. where the front edges butt each other
and there is no overlapping. On the right side of the front (right side while on your body)
you sew the male part of the snaps close to the edge of the front. On the left side of the
front, you set the female part of the snap but you only sew through one hole of the snap.
The whole of the snap actually extends beyond the edge of the vest. When you connect the
snaps, the two front edges butt each other & the snap cannot be seen. I assume you
would use a slightly heavier thread than normal for strength. Hope this is clear.
