Tracing patterns from magazine

> I've just discovered the Burda Magazine since I subscribed to this list.   Got my first one this month and have one question. Is there any way to  find the pattern you want and trace it without losing your sanity?? I did   a skirt with the help of my DD, have it almost finished and think I'll like it, but surely there's an easier way to keep my eye on the pattern I want  to trace.    > Jacquelyn

Jacqueline, I have traced hundreds of those... actually there are some simple ways to keep you from going wild: outline the patternpiece with a felt tipped pen. If you loose the line in the maze, look on the little drawings - the outline of the pattern pieces before the instructions - they make it easier to visualize the shape you are tracing.Use thin and fairly trasparent paper to trace and don't forget to pin the corners before you start - if it moves the outline is no longer accurate.

Be sure to write in the middle of the pattern the number, the issue of the mag you working from, the size you traced and what is it supposed to be. Draw a sketch of the finished garment - copy the little drawing of it. After a while one has an amazing number of tracings and impossible to identify without all the details. Use an envelope per garment for storing the pattern. I photocopy the instructions and paste on the front. If you copy several different garments don't use the same colour felt pen to avoid confusion.

I dont use tracing paper. I use light interfacing. It seems to be sturdier.
