Paddle Beamer
The Paddle Beamer is a large disk with a simple control stock and trigger on the underside. The frame has several reinforced claw guards, so Ssi-Ruuk soldiers can grasp and fire the weapon one-handed.

The weapon creates a thread-like silver ion beam. While the ion beam can be lethal at extremely close range it's primary function is to paralyze its target by interfering with his or her nervous system. An ion blast can numb an extremity for several hours, and striking a primary nervous system pathway completely paralyzes the target, knocking him or her unconscious.

The weapon has an optimum range of eight meters and a maximum range of twelve meters, but the ion beam passes through force fields and battle armor. The ion beam cannot be deflected by a lightsaber, the beam "bends" around a lightsaber's blade.
