1975-76 Season

The 1975-76 Mariners had what most observers would have considered a successful regular season.  They finished 11-7 overall, and 10-6 in the Parkland conference.  The Mariner were led by seniors Dave Dorlack and Pat McKeon.  (Although official records are not available, all agree that Dave established the Mariner career scoring record at some point during the season).  Juniors Greg Barrett and John Osep were the starting guards for most of the season.  Rounding out Coach McKeon's squad were Rory Szulkalski, Jamie Ramel, Steve Tomski, Ken Neary, Phil Caruso, Dan Dorlack, Scott Berg, Mike Laskowski, Don Severson, and Bill Malek. Pete Chilson, Al Cieslak, and Jeff Schulz were the managers.

After the regular season, the Mariners captured the hearts of the city by winning 7 straight tournament games to become WIAA Class B State Champions.

Former St. Francis resident Steve Knoll has chronicled the Mariners' road to Madison in a separate web site.  Please go to www.execpc.com/~ffranco to see Steve's tribute to the 1976 WIAA Class B Boys Basketball State Champion Mariners.
