Custom Light Up Pontiac For the coupes

Light Up "PONTIAC" For the Non-GTs

Supplies Needed:

Black Spray Paint Masking Tape, The word PONTIAC cut from vinyl sticker material from you local Graphics artist Size: 1 1/2 inches tall and 11 inches long, Red Vinyl for the color or what ever color you chose A band saw, Plexi Glass to make a "wall" to keep the light from spilling into backup lights, super glue A drill with a 1 inch bit,
4 side maker lights from another Fiero or another GM car.

Instructions:

1: Start out by removing the tail lights.  Do this by popping the small black covers of and backing out the philips head screws.

2: Carefully pull the tail lights apart.  There are 6 clips holding the taillights together 3 on top and 3 on the bottom.  It is going to be somewhat difficult to do this.  Just have patience and careful not to break the clips.

4: Once the lenses have been separated the take your clear lens that goes all the way from the Red lens to the middle of the car and cut off 6 sections of the graph.  Leaving one Graph after the Back up light to be safe.

5: Take the Plexi glass over to the band saw and cut two wedges out so you can make a wall/ separator to keep the light from spilling into the backup lights.  (Hint take the plexi glass put it between the wall for the red lights and the backup lights and trace a strait line over that to get the right angle.)

6: Take the black spray paint and paint the wedge shaped walls so it allows no light to pass through.

7: Take the drill with the 1 inch bit and drill two holes 1 inch from the edge of the back of the black plate and 2 inches between each other.  Same with the other side.

8: Now move to your clear lens cover and mark where the black paint will stop and mask it off.  (Hint: Use the backup lens to determine where to make the mark.  The back up is three sections of graph wide.

9: Take the PON on the driver side light and carefully stick the letters to the inside of the cover.  Remember you only need to worry about getting the letters to stick and not any paint to run into the letters.  You will be taking this back off to reveal the letters

10: Once the letters are in place and the area that you will not be painting is masked, take the Black spray paint and paint the entire section getting in the corner and the sides so you do not allow light to pass through to the outside.  Once this is done, do 2-3 more coats to ensure total blackness.

11: Once dried, take a sharp object and peel the letters off taking care not to damage the newly painted area.  Also you may take the masking tape off.  Repeat steps 2- 11 for the other side.

12: Once everything is how you want it with the paint, take the piece of red vinyl that the light will shine through and carefully smooth it out over the letter so the letters become Red or what ever color you are using.  Same with the other side.

13: Now for the lights.  Take the light sockets and wedge the sockets into the holes you drilled.  Then once done take the wires and splice into the wires on the third red light so that the lights come on with the parking lights.  You don't want your lights to flash with the directional signals.

14: Once done with the wiring and everything is how you want it, put the lights back together and replace the lights onto the car.  However make sure to double check everything so it works and looks good.  Take the screws that hold in the lights and tighten them down.

Replace the little black covers.

15: When night time comes go out turn on the lights and admire your work then go to work the next day and brag.
