Discover the thrill of voting!
Six Flags Over Georgia hosts voter registration drive
September 20, 2004
Atlanta, Ga. - What do theme park visits and voting have in common? Casting your very first vote can be a thrilling experience not unlike the rush of the Great American Scream Machine. Six Flags Over Georgia has made plans to help deliver thrills of both variety September 25 and 26 at the park's front gate area. The park plans to register thousands of new voters during a two-day voter registration drive.
Eligible citizens who are 18 years of age and over will need a valid form of identification to complete the registration process. Registration forms for the state of Georgia and most neighboring states will be available. There is no charge to register and entrance into the park is not required. Volunteers from the park will collect and mail all registrations or new registrants may mail them later. All registrations must be postmarked by October 4, 2004 in order to be considered for voting in the November elections. The Six Flags Over Georgia voter registration drive takes place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. September 25 and 26.
Registering to vote is easy, free, and only takes a few short minutes. Registered voters enjoy the full benefits of their representative democracy. American voters have the unique ability to choose their elected officials in upcoming elections. The Six Flags Over Georgia voter registration drive will be one of the last opportunities to register in time for the general elections November 2, 2004.
Unfortunately, many do not register to vote. As recently as 2002, 65 million eligible voters in the United States were not registered. These 65 million individuals left the thrill of voting to only 46% of the total citizen population in the United States (U.S. Census Bureau).
Six Flags Over Georgia hours of operation for the remainder of September are Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Sundays from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. In October the park opens for Fright Fest. Operating hours are Fridays from 6 p.m.-11 p.m., Saturdays from 10 a.m.-10 p.m., Sundays from 11 a.m. - 8 p.m. The park will be open for a bonus day Monday Oct. 11 from 10 a.m.- 6 p.m. General admission is $42.99 for adults and $25.99 for kids 48" and shorter. Greatly discounted one-day admission tickets are available at most participating Publix Super Markets and online at sixflags.com.
