Lo - Q
In 2001, SFOG began using the Lo-Q Virtual Queuing System. This page is designed to provide you with the basic information concerning this device.
What is the Lo-Q Virtual Queuing System?
The Lo-Q system is a device that visitors to SFOG will be able to purchase. The device's primary use is to virtually book yourself on a ride that supports the system. Another use of the device will be to track members of your group, such as children, that are wearing a Q-Tag.
What do you mean, "book yourself on a ride"? How does that work?
By booking yourself on a ride, you enter the virtual queue for that ride. An example: you want to ride the Georgia Cyclone, and the Georgia Cyclone supports the Lo-Q system. Outside the ride is a "booking point." You have rented a Prompter, which is the device the Lo-Q system uses. You point the Prompter at the booking point from about three inches or so, and you've been booked on that ride.
Now, let's say that the current waiting time for the Georgia Cyclone is an hour. Now that you've booked yourself on the ride using the Lo-Q system, you have entered the virtual queue, and for an hour, you can go anywhere else in the park and do whatever you like. Ride something else, get something to eat, see a show.. anything. As the time approaches for your scheduled ride on the Georgia Cyclone, a message will appear on your Prompter, saying, "Next Ride Soon".
Once the waiting period is up and it's time to board, you can enter the ride via the Lo-Q ride entry point. If you are early for the ride, your Prompter will tell you say, and you won't be allowed to board until your waiting period is over. If you are late and have missed your ride, your Prompter will inform you, and you'll have to book your ride again.
How can you rent a Prompter?
See the Strollers & Lockers/Lo-Q building next to the Georgia Cyclone, in the British section of the park.
How much does a Prompter cost?
The cost is $5 per person. A $5 deposit is needed for the Prompter, which will be returned to you when you return the Prompter. This is to discourage stealing.
What is a Q-Tag? How does that work?
The Q-Tag is a companion device to the Lo-Q Prompter. Basically, members of your group can wear these Q-Tags, and then you will be able to locate their position in the park using the Prompter. This would be especially useful for children.
