Other Rides

WILE E. COYOTE CANYON BLASTER
NEW FOR 2004!
This unique coaster winds its riders in and out of the old Spanish fort located in Bugs Bunny World, at kid-sized speeds of just under 30 mph.

SHAKE, RATTLE & ROLL
NEW FOR 2004
A blast from the past, indoors, with a heavily themed Scrambler with lights and music from the 50's. Inside find a pink Cadillac, poodle skirts, and a whole lot of fun! Twisting away in the domed theater that's been home to the Chevy Show and Magic Shows in the past.

ROCKIN' TUG
NEW FOR 2004
The most fun on a new ride I had last year was on this great family ride from Zamperla. Unasuming to look at, the boat starts to rock back and forth on a track, and then the boat begins to slowly spinning to the delight of the passengers on board. Part of the expansion of the kids area from Bugs Bunny World over the soon to be newly rebuilt bridge to Carousel Hill, just above the queue for the Hanson Cars

UP, UP & AWAY
NEW FOR 2004
Fly in the trees on Carousel Hill piloting your balloon on a race to the clouds. Another part of the family ride package for 2004. And, before the SFOG critics hit it, the Carousel had low ridership and hopefully these additions will make the hill the family place to be without destroying the charm of the Carousel which is so lovingly maintained.

GOTHAM CITY CRIME WAVE
NEW FOR 2004
Rising 30 feet above the Gotham City midway is a Wave Swinger spinning riders where the Ultrazone building once stood. This ride was a package shipped over from Japan a year or so ago.

ACROPHOBIA® [52" minimum height]
Combining state-of-the-art drop ride technology with a twist - the riders are standing up! Repacing the Air Racer, riders position themselves in one of 30 positions on an outer circular ring around the tower. Standing up, the ring rotates once completely around the center posts as it climbs the 200-foot tall tower. Then, at the top, as the rotation ends each passenger's postion tilts 15 degrees towards the ground. Don't look down! After 4 seconds of silence the fun continues as the ring is released so the passengers freefall 161 feet before coming to a magnetically controlled smooth stop. A truly unique wonderful drop ride. No loose items, including hats and glasses, are permitted on the ride.

FREE FALL® [42" minimum height]
Installed in 1983, this is a 1st generation Intamin drop ride with 4-person cars that go up an elevator-type device. You go up 10 stories in the air, and the car is pushed out and dropped without warning, falling 98 feet at up to 55 MPH, and you finally end up on your back. Put a penny on your knee at the top and watch it float down with you. I personally don't ride this very often because I'm tall and the last jolt at the end of the run hurts my shoulders.

LOOPING STARSHIP [48" minimum height]
Like a "rocking ship" type ride but you go over the top. Big squish effect at the beginning and end of the ride; move your hip-pack to the side (you have been warned). The exit is through an arcade. This and Wheelie could probably be called the only "flat rides" at SFOG. Holding 50 passengers per ride this is a fairly high capacity ride so the line goes fast

MONSTER PLANTATION®
"Your invited to a picnic - monster picnic - where humans are allowed to stay...So come on in and join the party at the mansion..." An indoor dark 3-bench 6-passenger boat ride with the second best air conditioning on a hot day (best is in the USA Theater). Warning; the end of the ride may scare very, very young children (I won't give away the surprise). Day-glow paint has been applied to the "marsh" scenes along with a few additional touches to the existing figures. This is a great dark ride that is loved by all.

THE GREAT GASP® [36" minimum height / 42" without adult]
2-3 person (seated) parachutes. Originally the Gasp had 12 chute positions (including a few stand-up cages), but it now runs with 8 due to a new controller installed during the late 1980's. Usually only 4 chutes are in operation, and the location closest to the Coca-Cola Cool Zone has the best view of the downtown Atlanta skyline. This is the tallest ride in the park at 225 feet

SKY BUCKETS
A standard (although becoming rare since many parks have removed them) sky ride from above Confederate's Dahlonega Mine Train / Crystal Pistol Music Hall to Lickskillet's Thunder River. If the queue is more that 3 "turns" in the queue house you can walk faster than ride.

RIVERVIEW CAROUSEL
Chicago's 1908 Riverview carousel was relocated here and is a National Historic Register site (a plaque and poster give the history). It's the calmest place on a crowded day -- go rock in one of the rockers on the building's porch for a while when everything gets a little too crazy. Also a nice place to wait out a summer storm.

DODGE CITY BUMPER CARS [42" minimum height]
Bumper cars, with more than 50 cars this is reported to be the largest in the southeast. The ride exits through a games area. Better bumper cars can be found in many other parks - these are rather weak and slow.

WHEELIE [42" minimum height]
An original "Enterprise" ride, you spin around in cars (up to 2 people in each car, 32 cars total) connected to a circular 51-foot wheel structure that tilts so the cars end up going upside down.

HANSON CARS [42" minimum height without adult]
Kid-drivable 4-passenger cars on a track around the Carousel. Probably the scariest ride in the park for parents who can imagine their young children old enough to drive real cars. These were originally located where the Georgia Cyclone is now. Hanson was the name of an automobile manufacturer that made cars in Atlanta, an original Hanson is on view at the Atlanta Historical Society in Buckhead (it was not named after the brotherly rock group). The ride provides a great view of GASM, Ninja, Wheelie, and Splashwater Falls, however the line tends to be long and slow with 2 passengers required per vehicle. In 1996 the tops of the cars were removed for quicker loading and unloading, and this year they've improved the queue line.

SIX FLAGS RAILROAD
Originally this route hosted a real oil-fired steam train ride around what used to be the perimeter of the park. The 2 engines were named after famous engines from Atlanta's confederate history; the great locomotive chase's General and Texas. However, in 2003 an engine was relocated from Six Flags Fiesta Texas. Named "Greta," unlike the original steam-powered SFOG engines, this replacement engine is a diesel engine instead. It appears the days of "live steam" at the park have come to an end. There are two stations: Marthasville (under the Cyclone's turnaround, across from the Air Racer) and Rabun Gap (near Thunder River at the entrance to the USA Section), you can get off at either one or make the entire circuit.
