7 Refreshing the system 7.1 Tests There will not be any tests that influence the grades of a student. A test, as the name suggests, is meant to test something, rather than mark someone. I believe that tests are a useful tool to check how well developed the system is and where its shortcomings are. 7.1.1 Home exercises The traditional school test we know today seems to function as a final quality control where after the student is graded and left with his knowledge or lack of knowledge, whichever applicable. I have earlier explained the problems with this method, like for example that students tend to forget a great deal of their knowledge after being tested successfully. In an ideal system, tests are carried out constantly to check the student's knowledge at any point of time (especially when unprepared) in any subject. Otherwise, any form of education is wasted. Home exercises will thus be distributed to the students on a regular basis (see section x.x.x maintaining knowledge). These are to test whether the student is still able to hold the grade given and if the opposite is proven, he will lose that grade or he can retake the module. 7.2 Discourse 4 Following a child's growth 5 Organizing one's studies 6 Grading students |
