On Suki

Finally, an entry after a six month hiatus… I apologize here for letting my laziness get the better of me. Somehow, things just keep popping up to suck all the free time away - books, the internet, anime. Well, mostly the latter. I must say that I was amazed to see how easily available anime is on youtube. (And not to mention a number of other strange home-made videos.) A conservative estimate would put an estimate of around a hundred otherwise constructive man hours spent on youtube. It is thus not a coincidence that the latest entry reflect a recurring theme in the anime I’ve seen.

Ore wa omae ga suki desu. Loosely translated it means "I like you". Simple but powerful words; words that characters in anime just cannot seem to say. Most of the time, they stop at ga in which case, it just means "I you". Suki, since it bears the meaning of "like" is the really vital word in the entire sentence. There are other variants to this sentence such as replacing ore with watashi, omae with anata, omae with omae no koto or suki with daisuki but the meaning remains the same. Maybe I have been watching one too many anime of the renai genre but my eyes always seem to tear when the "s" word is mentioned. Don’t you dare say "awww".

As I am constantly refining (or correcting, depending on how you look at it) my drawings, inconsistencies in the characters tend to crop up. The side profile for both Alice and Eve has changed somewhat and frame layouts and styles have also been changed. I am still working on how the jaw should look like and results tend to be disastrous at times. Maybe there is a reason why I am going to be an engineer and not an artist afterall.
