Klaus is the head butler of the Sanzen'in family, who is usually away on business. His real name is Seishirō Kurausu (倉臼 征史郎, Kurausu Seishirō), and is fully Japanese. He has a low alcohol tolerance, doesn't do well with tobacco or women, and likes cars and bikes. He distrusted and disliked Hayate because he was supposed to find Himegami's replacement himself. He challenges Hayate often where the losing condition would be Hayate getting fired but eventually accepted him as Nagi's butler when he failed in every way to get rid of him. He has many strange and bizarre antics to his arsenal as well, many of which Nagi hates. He likes Hayate who dressed cutely or womanly but isn't able to see that it is actually Hayate in disguise at all.

Dreaming of retirement and spending the rest of his life as a owner of the coffee bean plantation, Klaus is merely joking about it with Nagi when she thought Klaus is serious. That lead him to prove himself that he is still needed by the Sanzen'in family and compete against Hayate on butler skills. But when he found out that Hayate is better than him, Klaus decides to just retire and disappear out of Nagi's sight. However, Nagi manages to keep him staying in the family as she think Hayate is a bulter that is still not up to standard in terms of newspaper ironing. Klaus is glad to stay.
