I wanted to test the time delays for the dial-up connection. However when I entered the office and switched on the system, nothing worked. Very strange because on the previous Friday, everything was in good order. I backtracked and fixed up the leased line system. This also didn't work! I backtracked furthur and connected the stations directly to each other. This time round it worked! I then thought of a hypothesis that the wires connecting the modem to the station was faulty. After borrowing a wire continuity tester and testing the wires, my hypothesis was proven to be correct!

I fixed the cables connecting the modem to the station. I made surely every wire was tightly screwed & even gave it some violent treatment to make sure the same problem doesn't resurface. Then I configured and downloaded the programme into the stations' controllers. Everything worked and the testing can begin.

Today I tested the system for delays with dail-up connections at the baud rates of 9600, 19200, 4800 and 2400. I also plotted the graph to compare the delays and found out that when the system is working at the baud rate of 9600, it was also having the least delays.

Now finally with the task done, Mr Pucker showed us how to use Acron connect to communicate with a decentralised station. He made this a supplementry task for us by asking us to learn how to use it well first them to fix a new test rack which will combine the former task's function blocks with the present task's one.

I started to try the new programme. After getting familiar with it, I reorganised the test rack and fixed the hardware according to Mr Pucker's idea.

I stayed at my room in Lemgo. Finally after 8 weekends of non-stop travelling I get to rest my tired body

Sunday 28.09.2003

I stayed at my room for the whole day. I also drafted a travelling guide intended for NgeeAnn Polytechinc students who will be attached to FH Lippe in the future.
