| 30.03.2004 Lee Young Ae Writing to Dae Jang Geum Fans Thank you. This is Lee Young-Ae. Hello everyone, this must be the last time I will greet you as Jang-Geum. I guess I was deeply absorbed in Jang-Geum too. Sorry about my belated message. Looks like the time has finally arrived to let go of Jang-Geum, whose life I have lived with all my heart for so long. Its too difficult for me to leave her behind alone. Even though we may forget Jang-Geum as time goes on, she will continue to go her way as she has so far. I would like to thank Jang-Geum, who had been buried in history for hundreds of years and came back to awaken me to many valuable truths, as well as all Dae Jang Geum viewers, from our children who saw Dae Jang Geum through with Jang-Geum-like curiosity, to our loving grandmothers and grandfathers. I am also deeply grateful to all Dae Jang Geum staffs, including Lee Byeong-Hoon the producer, Kim Young-Hyeon the scriptwriter, and the rest of the staffs and fellow actors. Looking back, it was tough yet enjoyable time. I wish all you Dae Jang Geum viewers health and happiness. I hope that you will always remember to cheer up like Jang-Geum even in hard times. YA appointed as UNICEF Special Representative in Art  Korean actress Lee Young-ae, the star of the hit TV series' Dae Jang Geum,' was named a United Nations Children's Fund special representative in Art. In that role, Lee will help promote UNICEF activities aimed at securing children the right to a quality education, good health care and basic protection. Lee is expected to participate in trips to developing countries and promote major UNICEF charity events and campaigns. Fellow Koreans actor Ahn Sung-ki and fashion designer Andre Kim also served as special representatives before becoming UNICEF Goodwill ambassadors. |
| 08.10.2004 9th Pusan International Film Festival (korea)   Korean actress Lee Young-ae, host of the opening ceremonies of the Pusan International Film Festival, and Hong Kong actor Tony Leung Chiu Wai, the leading man in "2046," the movie that opened the festival, met on Friday. The meeting of the two popular actors was arranged by the organizing committee of the festival. Tony Leung Chiu Wai started the conversation by saying that Lee Young-ae's appearances in "Joint Security Area" and "Spring Days Pass" was memorable.¡± Lee responded by blushing and saying that she too admired Tony on the screen, adding that having met him in person, she was convinced that he was a kind person. Actress Lee Young-ae hosted the opening ceremony of the Pusan International Film Festival, with Tony Leung Chiu Wai, the leading man in "2046," the film that will open the festival. The two had a date on Friday afternoon. When asked about love, Tony Leung Chiu Wai, who is loved by women around the world for his sensitive portrayals of contemporary men, he answered simply, ¡°Love is Kimchi.¡±Kimchi tastes and smells awful when you first make it, but it gets its own unique taste as time goes by, he said, adding that love should have that seasoned quality, soliciting loud applause from those in attendance. Cheers turned to sighs, however, when he added that he is skeptical of unchanging love. Lee, on the other hand, said that she believes in undying love and said that after watching the movie, "2046," Tony Leung Chiu Wai made her want to fall in love. It was the Hong Kong actor¡¯s turn to blush. Answering questions about director Wong Kar-wei, who made "In the Mood for Love," "Happy Together" and "2046." Tony playfully remarked that because he rarely saw the director without sunglasses, it was hard to tell what he was thinking. When asked if the two actors would like to work in a film together, Lee answered that the language difference would be a problem, but after watching "2046" she realized that movies could work beyond language. She added that it would be an honor if the two were to work together in a movie. Tony replied that he had seen many Korean films in the last few years and that if there were a good project, he would be happy to work with Lee. The two actors ended their date by saying that fans have been a great support and that the actors would repay that loyalty by making quality movies. |

Fashion designer Andre Kim on Monday held the 2nd Best Star Awards at Grand Hyatt Hotel in central Seoul. The Award is aimed at highlighting the achievements of Korean stars who contributed to heightening Korea's status worldwide by performing well in areas of entertainment, culture, arts, movies, TV, and sports. Among the winners of the awards were prominent talents such as Kwon Sang-woo and Kim Tae-hee who co -starred in the SBS TV drama "The Stairway to Heaven", actress Lee Eun-joo from MBC's hit miniseries "Pulsae (Firebird)", actress Lee Young-ae who played the leading lady of MBC TV drama "Taechanggum (the Great Changgum)", and actor Lee Dong-geun from SBS' weekend drama "Pariui Yonin (Paris Lovers)", which drew huge popularity during summer season. |
