Something about myself (10th October 2001)

Nothing I wanna put up at the moment. Read the rest for more info. ^_^

My buddies

I have 5 very good buddies currently in serving NS as well. We were all from RVHS although not all of us have been in the same class before. We share common interests like reading comics, playing basketball & pool, playing PC/Console games. Although we are now in different military units, we still do keep in contact and try to come out together when we are free, although it is becoming quite diffcult due to the hectic and irregular schedules of the military units.

My schooling life

I started out my education at Jurong Primary School (JPS) at the age of 7. Well, life was more or less the same everyday then. Today, I still go back to visit my primary school form teachers annually on Teacher's Day and I would often meet some of my old classmates. After 6 years, I graduated from JPS at the age of 12.

My secondary school life in RVHS , or should I say the 2 years when I was in upper secondaey, was one of the happiest time in my life (I did not get along well with my lower secondary classmates). There are many unforgetable memories about it. One of them is of course getting to know my buddies. Another was the happy times with my secondary classmates of 4C which I miss. Once in a while, we would come out and celebrate birthdays of some classmates of a certain month and I enjoy such outings a lot. After my 'O' levels in 1996 I was actually planning to go to Ngee Ann Polytechnic to study Mass Communications. However, my English turned out to be unexpectedly poor and I landed myself in a junior college.

My first 3 months of college life was at NJC in 97S01, which was quite and experience for me. NJC is a boring place but I like my classmates there. Although we were a small class of 12, we still manage to have lots of fun. We still do keep contact once in a while on ICQ. My class in SAJC, 2S9 is quite nice too with lots of classmates with interesting personality. Too bad all good things must come to an end. After of nearly 2 years of college education, all the guys have to shave their heads and serve the nation! Such good luck for the girls...

Finally! After two and a half years of national service, I am a free man once more. Sounds like I had a hell of a time huh? Anway, I am now in Nanyang Technological University, School of Computer Engineering.

My ECA life

My primary school ECAs were table-tennis and computer club, however it seems that I was not able to do much and thus there is not much deep memories left regarding them.

At secondary school, it was a period when I was very actively involved in ECAs. I was in NCC and Audio Visual Club (AVC) and I manage to have a little achievement in both ECAs. In NCC, which I am now still involved in, my final rank at the end of secondary 4 was Master Staff Sergeant (MSG). I was the Assistant Company Sergeant Major (ACSM) and was in charge of Part B (Secondary 2). As for AVC, I assumed the post of Project Manager when I was secondary 4. I was also in the Computer Club for 1 year between 1993 and 1994. However, I had to quit due to responsibilities in my 2 other ECAs resulting in the lack of time.

During my college education, I had NCC as an external ECA which is accepted at SAJC. My achieved the rank of Senior Cadet Lieutenant (S/CLT) and my responsibilites include helping out with activities in my school unit RVHS and with camps and ranges at my district HQ, Jalan Teck Whye Camp. I was in Astronomy Club at NJC during my first 3 months but I decided not to take up more ECA at SAJC and concentrate on my schoolwork.

In NTU, I am a member of the Photo Videography Club. ECAs are no longer like what it used to be, most people seems to join the activities for the ECA points required for staying in hostels rather than for interest's sake. Still, I do hope that the club may be involved in some major production soon.

Personality

Results of some surveys I had taken before:

Also known widely as the Fire Bird, the phoenix is a profound symbol of the circle of life. It has a life cycle of 500 to 600 ears and after that amount of time, it sets itself on fire and dies in the flames. Then after three days, it rises again from the ashes. It is a completely benign creature who lives in dew. It is said that the phoenix has a beautiful melidous song which grows ever more mournful as its life comes to an end. It is a symbol of the sun and immortality. The phoenix is a very worthwhile beast.
