A Chapter in YOUth
|
Creating
greater milestones is what we do at the People’s Association Youth Movement
(PAYM). Do you have a limit? We don’t.
BACKGROUND
Established
in 1971, the PAYM reaches out to youths between the ages of 12 and 35,
regardless of race, language or religion. As the largest youth organisation
in this sunny island, we have 100 youth groups based at the community centres/clubs
(CCs).
Each
Youth Group based in their respective CCs (Community Clubs/Centres) is managed
by a Youth Executive Committee (YEC) comprising 10 to 30 members (click here for portfolios in a YEC). The
YEC initiate programmes and activities for the youths and work closely with
grassroots organisations to implement community development projects for
residents in their respective constituencies. There are also opportunities to
organize events for the youth with other YECs at the GRC or regional level. All
YECs in Singapore are divided among five regions.
We
believe youth has the potential to give and gain, by GETTING INVOLVED.
Come join
us if you want to play a part for the community, if you want to enrich your
youth hood and if you want that once in a lifetime experience.
If you are between 15 to 35 years old, Chong Pang CC YEC is calling out to you! And you don't have to be living in Chong Pang.
Chong Pang YEC is where you can get involved, enhance and grow your potential, enrich your experience.
Some of our past projects include:
Since July 2006, the YECs in Sembawang GRC and the YECs of Nee Soon East and Nee Soon Central have come together under the Sembawang GRC Youth Engagement Programme to organize events and activities. The programme is run under advisory of Dr Lim Wee Kiak, PBM, MP for Sembawang GRC. The other YECs in Sembawang GRC include : ACE The Place (Admiralty), Canberra, Marsiling, Sembawang and Woodlands.
As members of the YEC, you will also have opportunities to participate in international youth exchanges with countries like China and Japan, be a youth ambassador for Singapore and play host to visiting youths from other countries.
Chong Pang YEC is also responsible for the management of Chong Pang eClub, a long running community project to provide IT facilities and training courses for the community and the public at large. So as part of the YEC, you will have the opportunity to oversee the continued running of this project and gain valuable management and IT related experiences.
Chong Pang Youth Group also has an Adventure Sub-group. The sub-group runs a regular series of abseiling courses and is looking to organize more outdoor adventure activities with you coming aboard.
As many current and former Youth Group members can attest, they have developed themselves personally in terms of interpersonal, managerial and time management skills.
In short, so many things that can happen and you can part of it. So, what are you waiting for ?
Do so before 24 Aug 2007 !
