The Tau Are Here!!

The HQ comprised of a bunch of flying
suits which is kind of like a cross between a terminator and
marine armour. Commander is WS3 BS4 S5 T4 W3 I4 A3 Ld9 Save
3+, for 50pts. That stats is with his armour. The armour gives
a +2S, +1T, +1W and 3+ save. There are 3 hardpoints to put
weapons and support systems. The weapons are quite good but
everything adds up to almost 90 puts. They also have jump-packs
but it can only move 6" instead of 12". Good thing is the
ability to deep-strike but because of the poor CA abilities
and no power weapons in the whole army list, it is a waste
of time to DS.
The basic troops have BS3, WS2, S3, T3,
4+ save pulse rifle S5 AP5 and rapid fire. They cost 10 pts
each. As you can see, they suck at CA. Therefore they employ
these Kroots with WS4, BS3, S4, T3, I3, A1, no saves at 7pts
to fight all close combat. The Tau thinks that close combat
is not honourable combat.
There are 2 vehicles, hammerhead and devil
fish. Hammerhead is the tank with a rail gun S10, AP1, Heavy1,
and 2 burst cannons, S5, AP5, Assault 3. Devil fish has a
burst cannon.
There are only 6 choices for wargear and
they are all related to shooting, except for 2. I think it
is extremely well-balanced and not as smelly as you might
think about GW. It is a new army list and people tend to think
the GW makes all new army list to be smelly. This one is okay.
The flying/hovering suits are okay but a little too expensive
as they are not good as terminator armour but carries very
good weapons. Even with S5, they can't CA properly as they
don't have CA weapons.
They also don't have dreadnought-type
things. The closest thing is the Broadside suit in the Heavy
support. It is WS3, BS3, St5, T4, W2, I3, A2, 2+ save with
a twin-linked rail gun S10 AP1, and a smart missle system
S5, AP4, Heavy4.
Needless
to say, all the things that seems good are expensive in points.
In addition, they suck in CA which happens a lot in 40K. Kroots
are the only thing that can CA but they have their set of
problems.
