Our home is a 18-year-old flat in Bukit Batok.... yes, bukit batok, not bt gombak and no, it's not in Bt Panjang either. Yes, verrrrry far for a lot of our friends - but no choice - i live in Sengkang, John lives in Jurong west and our church is in Pasir Panjang. In terms of cost and fairness to both parents, we chose Bt batok. Not too bad lah - the reserve park is nearby and so is Xiao Gui-ling.

Ok, inside the flat now - it is 'woody', all our furniture are teak furniture. John and myself like antiqued old stuff. The walls are in creamy white - no loud colours for us except for the pale yellow wall along the corridor leading to the bedrooms. the same yellow colour for our study room too. We love our balcony - there's a DIY pond which john did. we love the sound of the running water and the feel of pebbles under our feet. shocking? eh, we'r not as funky as you thot us to be. we're INTROVERTs leh =) ... When pple asked us what's the deco theme of our flat, we'd tell them East meets West! (get the pun, Alice meets John?...) A's mom said it's karang guni flat. =)) (some of you might have heard us talking about creating a tropical resort style but too ex. so gave that a skip.)

Becos it's an old flat, structurally, there're a few problems. One really serious one which got john and myselfi super- stressed up are the piping leakages. We managed to solve the toilet piping but have to live with the low water pressure. So, if you want to bathe in our common toilet, you will b so frustrated with the weak shower that you'd rather use a bucket. Also, if you use the toilet for any business, you have to hold on for a long time for everything to be flushed out. Sometimes, you need a bucket of water to help you clear the mess. =)) pls note this! IMPT! =))

Our friends came by the other day and encouraged us, "Oh, the leakage in the kitchen is not a big problem. Dun worry, the leaking kitchen pipes will worsen only in one or two years' time. by then, you'll have no choice but to ask HDB to come."

Not sure if that's good news or bad news - you decide.
