TEMPLE HISTORY

This temple was built arround early 19th century by Thiru Sevugan Chettiar.   There is a story behind construction of this temple.  Every year Thiru Sevuagan chettiar will go to Thirupathi to see Lord Balaji on"Purratasi - Thiruvonam" by walking.  While walking he was tired and slept on the way, Lord Venkateswara himself told Chettiar that he will come to Ariyakudi in Sevugan Chettiar's dream.  After this incident Sevugan Chettiar built this temple at Ariyakudi and named it as SRI THIRUVENGADAMUDAYAN - ALARMEL MANGAI THAYAR TEMPLE.

The" Deity" was brought from Srirangam, "Sadari and padukai" from Thirupathi and "Agni" from Thirumayam.  These are all the specialities of this temple.

If you pray at Ariyakudi its equal to praying at all the above three temples
