Standing Up To Two Bullies

Written by Cassandra (4A3 2001)

Have you stood up to a bully before? I have and I am very proud of myself. It all started one beautiful Sunday afternoon.

My classmate, Tommy, and I were at a playground playing on a see-saw. While we were playing on the see-saw, two thug-like bullies approached us. They looked as fierce as grizzly bears.

I knew who they were. They were the bullies in my school and they went by the name of Shawn and Joel. Shawn wagged his finger menacingly at me and threatened, "You better get off the see-saw or else you're going to get hurt."

He fished a penknife from his pocket and pointed it at me. I trembled like a bowl of jelly but I refused to knuckle under to a bully. I was purple with rage.

I plucked up my courage and charged at him like a bull. I swung my fist at his face, giving him a black eye. Tommy was flabbergasted by this spurt of courage. He helped me to fight Joel. We fought together against them and finally beat them up. I scolded them. As I did so, I saw them shrink from me in embarrassment.

They ran home, never to be seen in the playground again. As for me, I was pleased with myself. Tommy was very proud of me and told everyone in my school including the teachers about the incident. They were very proud of me. As for the bullies, they were transferred to another school.
