I started my career as a teacher on the 2nd of January 2002. Not very long in every aspect.

But it took me 3 years of serious consideration before I put down my decision in ink. The last 6 months prior to my decision, I quit from my job as an Interior Architect to sit down quietly and think about this next step that I was going to take.

Put it down as my calling, God's plan if you will. But ever since I've started teaching, my life has never been happier.

Apart from the fact that God has blessed me with a school of wonderful colleagues, the purest of joys comes from the little kids that I was placed in charge of. These little 9-year-olds have their ways of endearing themselves to you. The look of wonder and awe on their faces when they learn something new is a joy, a bliss that no riches on Earth can buy. That purity and innocence is a constant reminder of how our world can be...

The very simple and basic fact that they see everything as black or white,

right or wrong, truth or lie is endearing to me.

I have learnt a lot from these kids of mine as well. I am learning their emotional resilience - they can be very sad one moment and happy the next, but by no means are their feelings superficial. I am learning their ability to trust and their simple faith and their belief in all things good...

I was also placed in charge of the choir -- the school's choir. It was a thrill teaching them.

Their enthusiasm can be quite infectious and it draws from you, but somehow you do not mind them drawing. It is a wonderful feeling indeed.

I count it as an achievement if they had learnt and liked the singing enough to continue in their secondary education.

I don't think they are really looking for someone to teach them...

rather, they are looking for someone who believes in them.
