Rondalla Activities1983 The year was ended on a joyful note with a Christmas performance at Centrepoint, Orchard Road. In December, the NUS Centre for Musical Activities presented the SoiRee 1983 at the Singapore Conference Hall. The event featured the NUS Rondalla, NUS Guitar Ensemble, and the NUS Harmonica Band. Under the baton of Joseph Peters, the NUS Rondalla performed the Kayamanan Ng Lahi, the Dandansoy (Philippines Folk Song), the Ice Castle), the Historia de un Amor, the Rudolph the Red-nosed Reindeer, the Lulay, and the Philippines Medley No. 2. In October 1983, NUS Rondalla was honored to be one of the two bands in attendance at the Ceremony for the Inauguration of the Mass Rapid Transit Corporation (MRTC). The other band present was the Chinese Chamber Music Ensemble. The Ceremony was attended by the MRTC Chairman, Mr Michael Fam; the Acting Minister for Communications and Minister of State (Defence), Dr Yeo Ning Hong; and the Minister without portfolio and Secretary General NTUC, Mr Ong Teng Cheong.
