Rondalla Activities

    1988
    23 December, NUS Rondalla performed a Christmas performance at Peranakan Place.

    27 November and 14th December, NUS Rondalla performed Magical Medley at Scotts.

    31st October, the group performed at Anderson Secondary School.

    NUS Rondalla was proud to perform for the Eusoff Hall Grand Open House on the 15th October 1988. The Open House themed "The Time Travellers" was a symbol of the transition from the past (the 30 year old Eusoff College in Bukit Timah) to the present (Eusoff Hall in Kent Ridge), a journey into the future, equipped with rich Eusoff heritage.

    3rd August, the group performed at the Handicraft Centre.

    14th October, NUS Rondalla and NUS Harmonica Band performed "Light Music" Lunch-time concert at LT 13, NUS. The repertoire included Mabuhay, O Sole Mio, I have a Dream, Blue Hawaii, Ballet Suite, Georgy Girl, Piacer D'Amor, Voici Le Mois De Mai, The Piper, and the Jamaican Farewell.

    The NUS Rondalla performed for the Shell Friday Lunchtime Cultural Programme on the 22nd July 1988 at the Shell Theatrette, Podium Block, Shell Tower. The performance was open to Shell staff and members of the public.

    On the 10th of June, NUS Rondalla and Lim Keng Hong - the NUS Musician of the Year - performed together.

    The group performed for the Singapore Festival of the Arts at the Tangs Forecourt, and Raffles City Atrium, and Marina Park, on the May 31st, June 10th, and June 16th respectively. The group was conducted by senior student, Ms Low Mei Ling. The repertoire included classical and popular music, like Broadway tunes.

    19 to 25 April 1988, the 2nd Concert Tour to the Philippines is participated by 14 senior members of the group. Like the first Concert Tour in 1984, the tour was organised by the University of the Philippines' College of Music. The members performed at Paco Park, San Marcelino St., Malate, Manila, and the performance was aired 'live' on the national television programme, People's Television 4.
