Rondalla Activities

    28 Dec, the group performed at Shangri-La Hotel for the SMA's 61st Annual Dinner 1993. The guest-of-honor for the event was Mr S Dhanbalan, Minister for Trade and Industry.

    The annual Fiesta Rondalla concert was held on the 11 Dec 1993, at the Jubilee Hall, Raffles Hotel. Complimentary tickets were given at the Centre for the Arts (CFA), and the Raffles Hotel Information Counter. The event was sponsored by the Raffles Hotel. For whole group performances, the repertiore included Planting Rice, Aoi Hitomi No Elis, Jarabe Tapatio, Romance d'Amour, Pan Y Toros, I don't know how to love him, Le Bananier, Chanson Negre, El Choclo, Baby Elephant Walk, and Arabian Nights. For small ensembles, the tunes included Piropos de la Tuna, Isas, La Clara, Largo from 'Winter', the Ferryland Sealer, and Bolero de Bunyola. The concert featured dances Lulay, Pandanggo Sa Ilaw, and La Cucaracha by the NUS Rondalla and the NUS Jazz Ballet.

    15, 17, and 22nd of June saw NUS Rondalla performing at the Raffles City 'Big Fun in the City: 11-27 June 1993'.

    5 June, the group performed at the World Environment Day 1993 Green Bazaar. The event was officiated by Dr Ahmad Matter, Minister for the Environment.

    3 Jan 1993, the group performed at the Belvedere, 4th floor, for the Dinner in Honor of Delegates of the 8th International Meeting of University Administrators. The event was hosted by Dr Lien Ying Chow, Pro-Chancellor - National University of Singapore, Group Chairman of Overseas Union Bank Ltd.
