Rondalla Activities

    1994
    16 Dec 1994, members of the NUS Rondalla performed during the Dinner and Prize Presentation Ceremony ITIS-NUSS Games 1994. Held at the Faculty Club, the Guest of Honour was Prof Ho Peng Kee. The quartet representing NUS Rondalla were Mr Chong Chun Kwok (Laud), Mr Chee Wah Yong (Guitar), Ms Nealda Leila (Bandurria), and Ms Janice Lim (Bandurria). Their repertoire included Santa Lucia, Rondalla, and Musicale Momento. The other CFA performance for the night was given by the NUS Clarinet Trio.

    The NUS Rondalla was honored to be part of the entertainment line-up of the star-studded 'Charity Gala Ball' event. Other performers for that night included the irrepressible Gurmit Singh, a cappella group In-A-Chord, verteran singer Rahim Hamid, singer Jimmy Ye, and the inimitable Melvyn 'Bibik Belachan' Chew; NUS Guitar and Dance Ensembles. Themed 'Youth in Focus', the evening was graced by the presence of the Prime Minister, Goh Chok Tong, who was the Guest-of-Honor. He was also the Patron-in-Chief of the NUS Students' Fund (NUSSF). The NUSSF was launched that night to help provide financial aid to needy undergraduates with NUS.

    12 August 1994, NUS Rondalla performed a Campus Concert at the NUS LT 13. The event was sponsored by ESSO Singapore.

    29 July, the group performed lunchtime 'Rondalla Concert' at the Shell Theatrette, 3rd Floor, Podium Block, Shell Tower. The concert was organised by the Shell Companies in Singapore as a refreshing change for the staff from their normal daily routine. Admission was on a first-come-first-served-basis.

    23 July, the group performed at the Vice Chancellor's Garden Party - Alumni Day 1994. The event was held at the NUS Forum grounds, and was held for the purpose of renewing ties and fellowship of the NUS Alumni.

    18th June, the group provided musical entertainment for the Welcome Dinner of the 8th ASEAN University Games Singapore 1994. The event was graced by the presence of Prof Lim Pin, Vice-Chancellor of the National University of Singapore (NUS).
