Raising the Fries

The hardest part of looking after bettas is tending to the fries as they grow. Being babies, you cannot just feed them food that you feed the adults. And feeding them liquifry you buy of the shelf will not work as they will still starve. Special food must be grown and given to them.

Baby Brine Shrimp

This is the most common and best food to feed to the fries. However t is a DIY thing that you have to hatch yourself. And being salt water organisms, they have to be hatched in salt water. This can be fed to them from day 1 onwards.

Daphnia

This is another nutritious source of food for the fries. But being larger then BBS, so it is best to be fed to them after 2 or 3 weeks when the fries have grown bigger.

Tubifex Worms

This is the booster food for the fries to boost their growthe after 1 month. However, should the worms be too big, the fries may just choke on them. So be careful when feeding tubifex. Also, if the worms have not been cleaned properly, as worms can pass disease to the fries, and this will prove fatal to them.

Other then feeding, you must also look out for diseases on the fries. At such a young age, they are easy victims to velvet, and too strong medication will kill the fries. When doing water change on the fries, it is also best to be careful as the fries can easily be siphoned out of the tank with the water. It is also not advisable to do a full water change on the fries until they are about 6 to 7 weeks old.
