Dog's Summoner Faq
-------------------

Hi. When starting an int/guts engineer, you will want to either pick Earth, Water, or Lightning element. Water and Lightning engineers will rely on their guns as well as their skills. Earth engineers will be pure int and will. Personally I chose Lightning, because SP pots are expensive and with lightning your willpower can really get up there, but when i run out i can always boost myself and gun. It's also nice to have enough will to wear the armor you want. If you have a loyal partner who will level with you all the time i suggest you choose earth. If this is your second character and you have tons of money to buy SP pots, i suggest you choose water. otherwise, choose lightning.

Level 0-10
---------------
Truthfully, everyone levels the same at this point. bash bash bash on the little rabbits. Feel free to add a few points in the stats you dont intend to pump at this point - a few extra def points can mean the difference between life and death. Truly engineers have this freedom because their later skills can simply keep enemies in check while you regen mana or whatever.

Once you hit level 3, go to the guild and get your G-torch. This skill comes with rank 1 engineership.
Do note that clicking very fast with right mouse button will make g-torch shoot A LOT faster than just holding it down. You can also cancel the cooldown animation by using a normal attack or walking a step.

Try to get your hands on a wrench, and hang onto it for a while. Don't use a revolver. They're meant for ringers and will only slow you down. Kill sheep, then desert rats, then pigbats and blue birds.

At level 7 you can get your Targeting skill. In truth this won't be that useful until you get your desert scorpion gun, but it's nice anyway. Note that you can't get this skill at bell. Get used to tolen, since it has a variety of enemies to kill around it.

Level 11-20
---------------
This stage is without a doubt the hardest for an engineer. The moon map (west, north of bell) is a good place to level at this time, or you can go west, south, west of bell. Near the entrance are some ants and strange flower people that walk by flipping over. These are both excellent things to kill, but avoid the gunmen until level 17 or so. If you find you hit a wall at level 14, please do try to kill those flower people - i found that this is the "magic enemy" that helped me level at this point.

at 11 you can get your landmine skill - this is excellent for fighting platypus and whale, and anything else that is not aggro. A very important point of engineer strategy is that monsters do not realize who dropped a land mine, and wont go after you if they get hit.

Get your desert scorpion as soon as you can use it. Load up with a bunch of ammo and go have some fun. If you've chosen lightning or water this is exciting for you :D, as is getting your sharpening skill at level 15. This skill is just great.

At this point though, we should discuss "+++". This is something people will say to you if you look like a boosting engineer. They want you to use your sharpening skill on them, and targeting too, but not as much. You probably should just not bother with these people. If you want them to go away, sure boost them. These people will usually just go right on to loot or steal your kills if you do boost them. At least if theyre busy asking again and again they won't be looting or killstealing.

At level 20, you can go to entlance for your first level 2 skill. The choices are G torch, Land Mine, or Targeting. Surely you must choose land mine 2. You will use this skill for your whole life.

Level 20 - 39
--------------------

Now you should be able to kill whales without much trouble. Having land mine level 2 really makes a big difference. You will want to kill whales and aggro ants (the ones found in moon ruins) until about level 25.

By this point, you should be able to pull off the SP regen rate mix quite easily. Collect copper and crystal powder and make a point of putting it on all your weapons. You can also put in on a weapon before you sell it to the store, and the cash you get is multiplied.

At level 25, you get toy bear. Which, incidentally, is just the thing you need to fight real bears. Go south, south of bell - your party may not be able to hand this map, but your toy bear will distract all threats at this point.

Now's a good time to talk about the usefulness of toy bear. Toy bear sucks a lot if there are non aggro monsters nearby. This is because those monsters will walk away, and the bear will follow them. Even if it's busy tanking hard monsters for you.

IF YOU FIGHT IN A MAP WITH SOME NON AGGROS, YOUR BEAR WILL LEAVE YOU HIGH AND DRY.

Toy bear's first priority is running towards whichver monster is the least threat to you. Please do be ready to run or slam the potions button if you do decide to fight in such a map. This is why i suggest that you fight south, south of bell since everything except the rare blue slimes is aggro there.

Fighting in this map should take you to level 35 without much problem. perhaps further. The Yellow birds there are level 35 monsters.

Level 35 technician can now change class to become full fledged summoner. This is available in trendol, as are the remainder of your new skills. Don't forget to get your level 2 sharpening in mesta at level 30. You could also get level 2 targeting but I don't recommend it.

At level 36 there is something very specific you should do to level fast. buy SP items with all your money except 10k gold. go west, south, south of bell and go talk to the NPC next to the cave entrance in the bottom left corner of the map. Choose to enter the cave, and go towards the south end of it inside the white room. There will be about 60 flightless yellow parrot in here. Drop landmines everywhere. resist the temptation to pull out your gun unless you can use the landscape to make sure the bird can't get to you. Time is on your side. After these birds no longer give you good exp (level 39), its time to fight in...

Level 40-50
----------------

"Engineer's Heaven" is the nickname for the ant cave 4 east of bell. Your toy bear will cluster enemies together so that you can drop bombs on them. not really much else to say about this except that you should solo here. Fighter will just slow you down. Good drops here too. Once the ants are green to you (level 46-ish), go back to west, south, west of bell and fight the blue desert rats there. The yellow bats in that cave you fought in from 36-39 are ok too, but don't seem to give drops as much. Keep fighting the desert rats until they give you only 1% exp each.

There might be some kind of crappy skill at level 48 or something.. bah, i didnt really notice. Truthfully this skill does exist but dont think about it. The real prize is that at level 48 you can go to mesta and get your land mine level 3. If you are particularly attached to death toy skill, i suppose you could go with that. but i certainly don't recommend it.

Now you move on to the lab. This place is north, north of town and then in a little cave. Lots of people will want to group with you here. My advice is don't group with anyone who you dont know. You must be very close in level to someone here to make any exp. Bring a lot of heal items since the rocks can shoot you suddenly. If you get bored, the boars outside the door to the lab give good exp and drop mana pots quite frequently. But if it's boars you're after, a better solution is to go to "boar island" on the other side of the ant cave.

Level 51-60
----------------

If you find the pharmacolite people annoying (and I do) you will want to get out of the lab as soon as possible, and move to "Engineer's heaven 2" AKA the windmill. with its non-aggro mobs and great drops, this place is much better hunting than the lab. Agan, be wary of a fighter partner here unless you're fighting the hammerheads. Fighter will only slow you down when hunting puddings and mech bears.

There's also a particular map east of the one with the pay cave NPC which is excellent for engineer at this point.
