WELCOME SNOWY & SMOKY! | 27 JANUARY 2004 8.50PM

Here's the obligatory advert for Sheares Hall Production:

GETTING AWAY WITH MURDER

ALLIANCE FRANCAISE (NEAR NEWTON MRT)
12 - 14TH FEB 2004
A SHEARES HALL Production

Tickets @ $14 or $50 (Charity tickets)

(All profits will go to the Salvation Army)

And now, if anyone is interested do let me know. I know this sounds pathetic, but last year was THAT much easier because I was acting. Now who do I get to come watch a bunch of people they don't know? I am at my wits' end. So if you despair of any place to spend your Valentine's Day, do me a humungous favor and bring your girlfriend/boyfriend to watch the play. Blackmail him/her by ordering flowers from us too, cos we most likely will end up selling them, but cheaper. And I don't mean a stalk of rose or two, I mean a bouquet!!

And an advert for Rockfest, this Saturday at Youth Park... Weiming is playing!!! Whee... I finally get to watch him play in public...

ROCKFEST

YOUTH PARK (ORCHARD)

Free admission

GUEST BAND: UGLY IN THE MORNING (<--- who are they anyway??)

Well I just got two new lil' hammies from Alex, they're called Snowy and Smoky! Snowy is logically all white, while Smoky has a bit of grey on his head and lighter on the body, but essentially they are white... I think the breed is Pearl White Dwarfs, but crossed with Winter White somewhere along the line. Interesting huh? But when they first came they were quite fierce, they fight a lot despite having always lived together. They don't get along with Piki and Momo. Speaking of Momo, she is much better now, as far as I can see. The hole looks like it is closing, and if you don't know what hole, well I can tell you, you don't want to know. Piki and Momo have now moved back in together and are living together just fine. No more squeaking from being made to move or being mated against her will as far as I can see.

I've just about sorted out the module mix-up, and things are underway to drop a module which I pretty much liked for its easy tutorials, SE2214 Southeast Asian Arts. During tuts, we play gamelan instruments. Gamelan is the Indonesian orchestra thing that they play with a lot of klung-klung sounds, all the instruments are made of metal (brass?) and you hear them playing for dances, shadow puppet shows etc. Quite confusing, but considering you can hardly learn much it's a good tutorial.

Am now working on a new layout which isn't coming along too well due to my extreme lack of expertise in Dreamweaver. Nevertheless, I am persevering. Today is only the first day, and it certainly doesn't help that I am not exactly flush with the inspiration I sometimes get for my images, which is the base for my layouts everytime. Be prepared to see images that are none too original next layout, if I do manage to get it out at all. I do like what I have done for the splash page so far though it needs a little refining.

I have also advanced in the world of Gunbound quite handsomely by my normal gaming standards. I am now a Wooden Hammer!!! Haha... Weiming is addicted to the game too... he takes it ever so seriously. He actually analyses the game, why he loses, how to get more gold, rather than simply blindly bombing. Such people... such joykillers...

I finally got my Happy House planner!!! Rejoice! For the world is suddenly back in order.

DOCTOR DOCTOR!! | 20 JANUARY 2004 3.39PM

Went to see the doctor just now at YIH... got an MC for the tutorial I didn't feel up to going for in the morning. Now I'm starting to feel really bad so I had to go see a doc. I'm starting to get an odd headache that just makes you feel like wanting to bash your brains out, where head massage doesn't work cos the pain seems to be further inside and you end up feeling like you'd rather bang your head on a wall. And it is more painful on one side of my head than the other. What did I do to deserve this!? Although the fact that I got all the medicine free was quite a comfort. The downside is, I now have 4 different types of medicine to take in verying amounts at different numbers of times a day. And if there's one thing I really hate about Western medicine? Call me old-school, but I think they make you really tired all the time. I hope that doesn't happen to me this time round.

Momo has 3 babies left, out of the original 5. I think they are getting bigger already, though they still can't see and walk yet. They are still squirming. I can't believe it, my very first batch of hamster babies!!! Think about it, how do hamster mums have babies so easily without any help, when us humans have so much trouble delivering just ONE?

Well anyway I think I should just go to sleep and sleep the headache away. Staring at the computer vexes me... something about the glare. Last night I was very annoyed by an incessant buzzing sound that just kept going in and on and was just aggravating my headache to no end. Thank God it went off all of a sudden before I actually drifted off to sleep and didn't resume again. I had a really nice good night's rest until I woke up late this morning. The minute Weiming stepped out of the room to go for a tutorial I had a pang of menstrual cramps. Sucks man.

Haha... and yesterday was Rhyss' birthday. Mel, Emily, Yvonne, Chooiteng, Weiming and I bought her a chair she'd had her eye on from Ikea, had her room strewn with rose petals (which incidentally I bought from the Co-op... didn't know they sold just the petals! And cheaper than would have been outside too.) and left her a really provoking note. Haha. Basically it said (what was visible at first) Rhyss I love you, Happy Birthday, Niaoren. To which of course she panicked at first, which was of course the reaction we wanted! Then in really fine print we put "wo men ji ge" beside the big "niao ren" haha... and "haha gotcha! with sisters like us, what are you complaining about?" and added our names beside. Sounds messy but hey it did the trick cos it doesn't look in the least messy, I'm just bad at description. You can imagine when she first saw the petals, she went "wow", then when she noticed the chair (yeah we arranged it so it looked as if it had always been there) she went "oh my", then when she saw the note she went "oh my god, oh no" hahahaha.... then when she read the fine print she went "haiyah, these horrid people (aka niaoren)" hahahaha... Well...

And in case you were wondering about the last post, it's a quiz as you can see, though I have never watched Pulp Fiction in my life and don't intend to. I am SO NOT a fan of Bruce Willis. And no, I do NOT wear a stud in my tongue, nor am I pierced in 16 places on my body. Just 2. My ears. I'd actually consider piercing my navel. Estee swears it doesn't hurt, and the pretty dangling navel rings are all quite a temptation (Please do let me be bimbo every now and again, thank you) with all the shiny dangly bits and fake gemstones... If only I was not hanging a slab of fat on my tummy maybe I would actually go through with it. Now that's a thought.

Feeling: headachey

STILL SICK... | 18 JANUARY 2004 11.08PM

What Pulp Fiction Character Are You? .

There's no doubt about it: you're eccentric. You wear your heart on your sleeve. You don't hesistate one bit when it comes to talking about squeamish topics. Although you like to have peace and quiet, you often find excitement in a random crisis or two.

Take the
What Pulp Fiction Character Are You? quiz.

WALLA WALLA!! | 15 JANUARY 2004 6.15PM

WELL. Today was an eventful day. When I woke up I found that Momo has given birth!!! And she is actually taking care of her babies, suckling them and all. Perhaps this batch will survive after all. Poor Piki is in the meantime, relegated to another cage. Poor thing, but he was driving Momo up the wall with his antics and now she seems better able to concentrate on mothering the babies.

I went down to the Salvation Army today to pick up the clothes and things. We came back with ever so many things, nearly more than we need for each character. And on top of that, the lady who runs a little corner of jewelry actually offered to loan us some items (and expensive ones they are too) and even sponsored a supposedly cultured pearl necklace and bracelet set for us! Thank God for good samaritans, though she did literally place pearls before swine here.

Oh and McDonald's is now selling ice cream cones for just 25 cents!!!! Unbelievable. It makes me think of the good old days in primary school when I'd go scrambling around in my little purse looking for 5 measly cents to put in the bus driver's red box so I didn't have to pay extra when the fare was a mere 25 cents. And now look at us, paying extraordinarily inflated prices to take the same seat on the bus, if seats are even available. *roll eyes*

Oh and congrats to me, I never thought I would ever have this problem, but I do, thanks to world-classedly fucked-up NUS. My tutorials clash spectacularly with my lectures, and both lecturers are showing exemplary understanding to boot. My 18th C Lit module only has tuts at 10-11 and 11-12 on two days on which I have lectures between 10-12. And he refuses to budge and says he can't open any more classes. The lecturer of my Thursday module says he can't promise he will upload notes and stuff for me to catch up (he probably is just lazy or not IT-savvy) on my own, and anyway he doesn't "recommend missing lectures". CRAP.(shouts to no one in particular) Thanks a lot, NUS!!!

Oh and poor dear Weihan is laid up in bed for the next three months thanks to a nasty accident while playing soccer. Fractured his shin in three places and dislocated his ankle into the bargain. Sounds funny, but it is apparently his annual health disaster. He has one every year... although I guess the logical thing to do would be to hope that it stops here. Anyone interested to go take a peek at him with me? Poor thing is asking for visitors. Wouldn't know if he'd want to see me though, haven't seen him for ever so long.

Feeling: pek chek

SICK... AND OTHER THINGS| 12 JANUARY 2004 10.15PM

School has started... lectures all, though no tutorials. Had our bazaar, which didn't exactly generate a lot of business or revenue, it appeared. Had our bash too. That was a success. All the people 'flew my aeroplane' except good old Kaichiat whom I cannot reconcile with 'calling Casey. Yup. But I had a good time, I haven't had such a good time chionging for some time. Sorry if I don't sound very coherent, I'm not feeling well, and not thinking very clearly. On top of a very blocked nose, I am now acquiring a cough.

The job thing is on hold on my side, cos I haven't finalised my timetable, nor got in touch with the lady since I sent her the last email regarding the bash poster.

I feel like eating so many things, though I do realise how bad I am feeling and how much worse those things will make me feel. I feel like eating my pacific clams, McDonald's ice cream, cheesecake, Wall's blueberry and cheese ice cream... and I suddenly feel like eating dumplings, thanks to all the New Year goodies adverts on TV. Interestingly, though, bak kua adverts never manage to entice me. *muse*

I went down for the Robinsons Warehouse Sale yesterday, and realised how badly designed the Singapore Expo was. The covered area only shades one from the sun, but not the rain. Come to think of it, I probably got this flu from someone at the Expo or something, cos I only had all the symptoms after I got home. Oh well. Thanks a lot, Robinsons! But I bought plenty of things, too bad Mel and Rhyss weren't there to suss the bargains out with me! I did, however, note with dismay (yes, dismay... that's the only word for it!) that a pair of shoes Mummy bought for me on Saturday was on sale for $10 cheaper there! And it was supposed to be on sale at the Tracce store... (+-_-)

Oh and I haven't been Gunbounding all week. (Yes I picked it up off my brother.) Aren't I a good girl?

Feeling: severely uncomfortable

NEW YEAR... NEW...? | 4 JANUARY 2004 12.23AM

First off... Happy New Year! Although I don't think it's really that much of a great deal. Spent my New Year's Eve at home, counting down with my dearest Lord Zhou.

Recently picked up a bit of marketing, thanks to SP wardrobe. Had to do some rounds of cold-calling to find sponsors for makeup, hair and clothes. Haha, and one of the very first calls I made, I lucked out. I still can't believe my luck. I called a company called Ingrid Millet (which the lady pronounces determinedly as Ingrid Meyer) and she offered vouchers, any number we quoted. So I quoted 150 and emailed her our marketing proposal. Surprise surprise, next morning she called me back and offered me another $200 hamper as well as 10 pieces of cosmetics (she didn't specify what kind). Of course I accepted!!! Then when I told her I could only collect the stuff on Monday evening cos I was scheduled to work at Fuji Xerox until 6pm, she was surprised. Then I said I was a poor student so of course I had to work. Anyway then she offered me A JOB. Yes. I will go down on Monday to get more details. See how. I hope it's good.

Sigh... I'd update more, but I'm really quite tired. Look out for more updates another day. Recently been blogging more at tabulas cos that's better for home access. No frontpage to dabble with at home and fix tables and codes. Yah so chcek back for more up-to-date updates cos I really am too tired to do anything properly now. And I realise I haven't fulfilled my dream of learning Flash, Dreamweaver or even Frontpage this hols. Nor thought up a new layout. I'm sick of this plain thing. Oh well.

Nitez.
