Hmmmm...(17/10/03)by R6
Once, I was driving back home from somewhere. It had just stopped raining. The road was wet but fortunately the traffic wasn't heavy at that time.

I was travelling at normal speed of about 70 - 80km/hr and subsequently approached a traffic junction. So, naturally, I dropped the gas a little. But as I approached about a couple of meters from the traffic light, it turned from green to amber. I've been in the same situation a couple of times but still, things will happen while they can.

My instincts quickly told me "Defensive driving". But alas...my car's not a Saab 95. While I tried to increase the gas, my eyes wandered up and saw the dreaded redlight camera affixed for that junction. I knew I couldn't make the rip so, dived on the brakes and skidded a couple of meters forward. When my car finally stopped halfway on the white line (i did not go over the line after the traffic light. Just inches off), I noticed the lights had turned red for my side of the traffic flow. Nevertheless, the other motorists from the left and opposite directions stay glued. Perhaps, in anticipation due to the loud screech of my tyres.

The camera did not go off. In the end, I had to crawl a few meters back to make way for the others on the left. Lessons to be learned? Go figure.
