Am I the Forgotten One?

You said you had to leave,
Journey across the realms
To prove your strength.
You needed to see
The prowess of the warriors
Of foreign kings.
It was to be your quest
To become strong
For all you swore to defend.
Did you foresee wars?
Fragile peace to shatter
Into shards like brittle glass.
But it was my heart that broke,
Scattered pieces in the wind.
It was me who got left behind.
You said I could do without you.
I was brave enough
But you were wrong.
You were the reason that I exist,
The air that I breathe
Yet you became my grief.
They told me you were dead
Somewhere in a distant land
But I did not believe.
I would search the very earth
Cross every continent
For the slightest trace of you.
Three long years had passed
I still traveled on.
I cannot rest until I know.
Then you came back
I reached heaven
Only to plunged into deepest hell.
You looked at me
With a stranger's eyes
Asking who am I.
Memories slipped away
Like sand through your hands
Tiny fragments lost into the night.
You were my all,
Forgotten by you
I never existed.
