Electromagnetism for Engineers (An Introductory
Course) 3rd Edition |
by P.Hammond
(University of Southampton, Southampton UK) |
Pergamon
Press |
Level 5
|
A concept book with little Mathematical involved.
It contain the history development of Electromagnetism.
A very interesting book to get to know about
Electromagnetic before going into detail.
I found this book after I derive my view on the
mathematical representation on electromagnetic
and confirm my derivation is all correct! I was
so happy to find out my crazy approach to derive
the electromagnetic is actual also the correct
sequence in the history of electromagnetic.
So happy, and I thought of this idea just to
help me remember the mathematical operation and
equation. I never thought that this crazy approach
actually help me in understanding the basic
needed in this subject.
The imagination I had in mind during my procedure
in deriving is fully described in this book.
comment by Lim Siong Boon
A fully revised and updated edition of one of
the most widely used textbooks on electromagnetism covering all fundamental
aspects of this important topic. Written as a basic introductory text
for beginning electrical engineering students, this book adopts an elementary
and practical approach requiring little knowledge of mathematics beyond
simple differentiation and integration. This new edition is enhanced
with restyled diagrams, a wide selection of exercise (numerical answers
supplied) and an important new section on skin effect in conductors.
Essential reading for anyone needing a sound basic knowledge of
electromagneticism.
Contents
The principles of electromagnetism. Electric
charges at rest---I. Electric charges charges at rest---II. Steady electric
currents. The magnetic field of steady electric currents. Electromagnetic
induction. The magnetic effects of iron. Electromagnetic radiation.

Electromagnetic Field Theory
a problem solving approach |
by Markus
Zahn |
John
Wiley & Sons, Inc |
Level 5
|
A quite detail and well organise book on electromagnetic.
I was looking for electromagnetic plane wave
information when I came across this book.
It has a great basic and detail on plane wave,
with detail and well illustrated diagram.
The plane wave illustrated in a figure with the
concept of the theory of relative give me
a clearer idea of components used in plane wave
which I derive earlier
I also learn other theory that is link to the
electromagnetic wave that is seldom mention
in other books. e.g.. theory of relative, Doppler
effect, etc......
The explanation is quite clear with
50% not so strong mathematics, 50% simple English explanation.
There are other topic in this book that I did
not have time to take a look.
Base on the explanation on Electrodynamics- Fields
And Waves, I can tell that it is a good book.

Electromagnetic Concepts and Application |
by
G.G.Skitek.S.V.Marshall |
Prentice
Hall |
Level 5
|
Easy, simple to read with detail illustration
for applying electromagnetic theory.
A good reference book after the concept is about
a level.
Recommend reading "Electromagnetism for Engineers
(An Introductory Course)"
for concept before going into a little more detail.
comment by Lim Siong Boon
ELECTROMAGNETIC CONCEPTS AND APPLICATIONS presents
an interesting, detailed, and well-organized approach to what is often
considered an abstract and difficult subject. Both those experienced
in this field as well as those new to it will welcome this self-contained
treatment that emphasizes self-study with many excellent illustrative
problems, graded drills and review questions, and the novel manner in
which new concepts are introduced.
"It is ironic," the authors write, "that electromagnetics
is viewed as a highly theoretical course when it is actually based solidly
on experimental results, but Maxwell's equations do seem abstract unless
their experimental basis is known. In this book we have approached each
new concepts as though it were an experiment being conducted."
Vector analysis is reviewed in the first chapter
to provide the required mathematical foundation for the ensuring extensive
coverage, which includes six chapters devoted to electrostatics, two
to magnetostatics, and four to time-varying electric and magnetic fields.

Level 5

A good programming consulting book. Teaches depth
into compiling level. Cover good object design, other programming tips
and pit falls. Recommended for programmers who have some experience
with object oriented programming.
comment by Lim Siong Boon
Drawing on the best of the Software Development
Conference, Black Belt C++: The Masters collection brings together papers
written by gurus of the C++ programming language. Reading this book
you'll see why uncompromising knowledge and quality have made the C++
track at the Software Development Conference so popular. No other book
will give you the insights into C++ programming offered here by the
masters of the industry.
Written for the intermediate C++ programmer,
each chapter is a real pro of his subject. You'll discover new depths
in seemingly basic topics, ways to evaluate development tools, a better
way to look at the confusing issue of multiple inheritance, a method
to reduce needless recompilation and hide the underlying implementation
from the end user, and guidelines for designing good C++ class libraries.
You'll find out what really goes on under-the-hood of a C++ complier,
explore the depths of heap allocation techniques, and learn why no C++
design methodology ever seems to be easy to understand or use. The
book is filled with useful guidelines and design techniques, opinions,
facts and lore about the language that's rapidly becoming the most popular
choice for general-purpose programming.

I would recommend "Understanding
Digital Signal Processing" by
Richard G. Lyons, Addison Wesley, ISBN 0-201-63467-8.
Rick covers the subject in a very clear way without the (common)
obfuscation, with a focus on the "understanding" in the title
(he also rides a Harley, which must count for something ;-).

Althrough this book may consider a little
out dated, most of the information covers the transitioning from olden C to
C++ and some history. It cover back to the basic of writing good C languge
and optimizing of the codes. The C++ language is well covered. On the whole
the written text is relatively easy to read and understand. Suitable for advance
programmers.
from the
book
Fast becoming the standard language of
commercial software development, C++ is an update of the C programming language,
adding object-oriented features that are very helpful in today's larger graphical
application.
Practical C++ Programming is a complete
introduction to the C++ language for the beginning programmer, and also for
C programmers transitioning to C++. Unlike most other C++ books, this book
emphasizes a practical, real-world approach, including how to debug, how to
make your code understandable to others, and how to understand other people's
code.
Topic covered include:
Good programming style
C++ syntax, what to use and what
not to use
Debugging and optimization
Common programming mistakes
Practical C++ Programming describles standard
C++ features that are supported by all UNIX C++ compilers, including gcc,
DOS/Windows, and NT compilers including Microsoft Visual C++ and Macintosh
compiler.
