Walking
on Water Wows Government Officials at Phon Phisai |
|
|
|
We were so
privileged to have 'Walking on Water', an all-female music group come to
join us in our Christmas outreach concert in Phon Phisai.
This band of
Christian composers and talented musicians were on their first mission
trip as a band and are well-known in the Singaporean music scene. They
played original compositions about the life-changing love that Jesus
gives and also sang Christmas carols that left the audience awed.
The team shared
their testimonies and whilst explaining the meaning of the songs,
preached the Gospel to the government leaders of Phon Phisai.

This is the first
time Phon Phisai district is celebrating Christmas on a public level,
and we saw the Mayor invite more than two hundred government officials
from the army, police, hospitals and community headmen and leaders from
various departments.
A young but talented
YWAM team from Pittsburg, USA presented mesmerizing dances and dramas
and Pastor Thamanoon (well enough for this occasion) delivered a
passionate sermon, urging everyone to know Jesus, the Reason for the
Christmas Season.
It was a chilly
December evening but it was truly heartwarming and well worth the effort
when we saw people respond to the altar call and submitting their
follow-up forms, indicating that they wanted to know more about Jesus.
Praise the Lord!

Musical Outreach
in Village and Schools |
|
|
Music is a powerful
tool that we use to communicate the love of Jesus with, especially in
cross-cultural environments. Thai people love songs, mostly so in the
villages.
However most Thai
songs carry very sad and fatalistic meanings, about heartbreak, lost
loved ones and suffering. The band, Walking on Water, worked with our
team from the Nongkhai church to present songs of encouragement and
hope in 2 schools and villages. Our message is clear: with Jesus you'll always have a hope
that never leaves nor fails you.
Many Thai people have
heard about Jesus before whilst tuning in to the radio and chancing upon
a Christian channel. Nothing beats having the power of God touching
hearts and changing lives like in a village evangelistic outreach!

Evangelistic
Christmas Concert in Nongkhai Town |
|
It's Christmas time
again and we spread the love of Christmas in Nongkhai town through an
outdoor evangelistic concert. We saw spectacular song and drama
performances from the local youth ministry members (many of whom are new
Christians but very committed to the Lord and in serving the church,
praise God!).
The stage was huge
and had magnificent speakers. After the performances and the preaching,
we invited people who were sick and needed healing from the Lord to come
to the prayer booth. One man who was prayed for brought his wife to
church the following Sunday and both received the Lord into their lives.
Many others come to know about Christ through this.
We also had a very
joyous Christmas carolling session all over town and a packed Christmas
eve service. |

The church members
brought family members and friends, cooked up a Christmas feast and the
kids had plenty of presents. Our little church was decorated with pretty
lights and bustling with people on this evening. It felt like a wedding
banquet (village style)! How beautiful the church
looked tonight: the Light of the world shining forth from the
church over Nongkhai, casting away the darkness and bringing the truth
and warmth of the love of God to His people. |

Our
Folks Came Over to Nongkhai for Christmas! |
|
|
|
|
It was a very
special time for us, when our parents, auntie and brother flew all the
way to Nongkhai to spend the festive season with us. This was the first
time for all of them to travel to the Isan region of Thailand and the
first time out of Singapore for Jeff's mum.
Praise God for our
beautiful, supportive and loving family members. We really missed our
folks whilst we are here in Nongkhai (of course we also love this new
family of Thai brother and sisters here), so it was just perfect to
spend this year's Christmas with the ones that we love.

Please
Pray For Us and For Nongkhai! |
|
1. Please pray for the
Youth members. We are seeing more youths come to know the Lord and we hope
that the Lord will touch them in such a powerful way that they will have
"staying power". Many new members are from the Nongkhai Boy's Home, Don
Sawan village and Prathumthep school.
2. We continue to ask
for intercession for Pastor Thamanoon's health. He being a very active man,
takes great pleasure and involvement in all the Christmas festivities and
programs.... until he fainted from exhaustion after the Christmas service!
He is better now, please just pray that he will know when it's time to stop
and rest.
3. Please pray for the
Women's Ministry as we continue planning for the business project and in the
outreach too.
We'll be back in Singapore for
Chinese New Year from 24 Jan to 10 Feb 2006. See you then!

|
Thank you for being
part of our lives and work here in Nong Khai!
May you be so
thoroughly blessed by the goodness of the Lord this new year!
Most
Appreciatively,
Jeff and Tammy
