| Slack packed today from
Goose Creek Cabins where we'll spend the night for the second time -
trying to avoid some of the severe storms predicted for April 1 and
2. Shuttled to Hogpen Gap by Mr. Kevin Bailey owner of Goose
Creek Cabins. Temperature was low 50's, foggy, rainy and
extremely windy, especially on mountain peaks. We were hiking
in Raven Cliff Wilderness area. Back to Neels Gap (Walasi-Yi)
at approximately 30.7 miles from AT. |
| Met several thru-hikers
going north who wondered why we were hiking south - was it an April
Fools joke? Ran into the young couple from UK - She
)Sparkplug) is from Ireland originally and her husband from York
(Slip and Slide), reside now in England, but have hiked all over the
world. Going to Venezuela next - nice couple. then 3
more from the AT "York, Doc, ____; new thru-hikers hadn't met
before. They all looked wet and cold. - Short day for us, only
6 miles. Bought some equipment at Mountain Outfitters at
Walasi-Yi; at Neels Gap. |
