 Hitched a ride again for
the 2nd day with Chris Michie (pronounced Mickey)
to Stecoah Gap. The plan was to hike only 2.4 miles to /brown
Fork Gap Shelter. Sweetheart Gap was beautiful. The sun
felt warm on my back when Simon and I stopped there for a short
rest. The necked hardwoods reached tall to the sky beginning
to attire themselves in yellow-green foliage ready for spring.
a peaceful area. I hated to leave because I knew what was
coming. |
| One steep mountain straight
up with no switchbacks until nearly the top. The views were
nearly 360 degrees looking down into the valleys. At one point
I could see the Fontana Dam. The decent was just as steep as
the climb up. |
| Made it to Brown Fork
Shelter by 2:00 p.m. Going to rest here today. I'll meet
my Buckeye Trail friends, Rick and Brenda Harris. |
