| Fontana Dam to Mollies Shelter | |
Hiked alone. Took
wrong turn and walked about a mile out of my way. Trail very
steep. Arrived at Mollies at 8:30pm. |

| Mollies to Derrick Knob Shelter | |
Hike was long and
strenuous. Steep mountains, large rocks, and boulders.
Beautiful view from the Balds. At highest point 5,570'.
Hiked with James Wilsona, teacher from Madison High School in
Wisconsin. He and 3 other teachers brought 26 kids to hike for
a week. The divided into groups. I'm glad James is slow
like me. It was great having someone to talk to and hike with
since the terrain was rough.Arrived at Derrick Knob at 8:00 pm, a 11 hour day. Cold supper of tuna, carrots and cheese. Off to bed. |
