Leaving Sam Moore shelter at 8pm.  It's about another 20 miles or so into Harpers Fairy.  I don't know if I'll make the 20 miles today or not.
I'm starting up the rollercoaster's again.  Headed toward Bear's  Den Hostel area about 3 miles away.  8:30am and I'm fighting the moisture off my face and into my eyes and trying to keep it off my glasses, so I have to stop every few minutes to wipe my forehead.  I just picked some blueberries, which is the first ripe ones I've picked.
Ahead of me is a set of log steps in between all the rocks, which means one thing, straight up!  I've made it to Bear's Den Hostel turn off.  I'm not going to go in, I'm going down to VA 7.  Go to the general store and get myself something to drink.
There is some rock ledges and this is the first view I've seen for several days.  Very hazy today!    I'm not going to get that bottle of pop because it's to busy of a highway Rt. 7.
There was a series of steps coming out of  Rt.,  going straight up the hill, but easy hiking coming down.  I not only have the rocks to content with, but also the rain.  There is a lot marble in this metaphoric rock and in one place I also saw coal.  I need stay off the rocks here, it must a one shot straight pattern for Washington DC.  It wouldn't take EJ long to spot me on top of these rocks.  I'm just reading a sign that says Welcome to WV  AT Conference Center Trail at 16.8 miles, Harpers Fairy 17.4 miles and Maryland Border is 17.5.  I just made another mile stone today.  I will also be crossing the WV border again on up the way.
I'm on the crescent of White Rocks.  Beautiful white stones, looking into the valley below, but here again vary hazy because of the recent rains.  I just stopped at the Sam Spring and got some water, and I'm just about ready to enter the devil's race course.  What it looks like to from down here is more rocks!  The creek is completely dry, you can hear the water underneath the rocks.  The devil can keep his race course.  I came up through there zigzagging rocks, over them, between them and  stumbled on them and everything else.  Starting down the other side seem to be pretty smooth.  I've never seen such rocky areas.  There's hardly any dirt at all.  Just huge piles of rocks.
I just passed the Blackburn Shelter, but I'm just going to go one.  This will put me 3. 04  miles to Harpers Ferry in the morning.
The area I'm in not is really flat  with large boulders that are piled on top of each other.  Most of them  are horizontal with a flat top.  This is interesting I'm beginning to see sections of the stone walls again.  A lot of the larger rocks have a lot of marble in it, not only marble, but I think a good bit of flint.  Hiking straight a top of ridge rocks.
I am exactly 1000 miles from Springer GA.  Now at the David Lesser Shelter.
