Leaving Lehigh Gap at 8:20am and go down to get my
water. I no sooner got my water than a thunder storm started.
I went back up to the shelter and I'm going to wait this out a
little bit. I don't like to be on top of a bare mountain in
lightening and thunder, so I'll see what happens here. 9:40am
when I left the shelter for the second time to get off the hill and
either go into Palmerton or to on across. |

I'm just below the Spring again and
it started to rain again. It rained for about 10 minutes and I
just went on and then it stopped. Made a decision to go on
across the top. It's cloudy and I'm going to get Simon across
the top before it's get to hot. |

Looking at the top of the mountain form the
bottom, it looks like total devastation. Nothing but rocks.
I ran out of tape just before we saw the fox. |

Coming through the Zinc area was
total disaster. There were trees and rocks laying all over the
place . Coming through the Zinc mining area was total disaster.
There were trees and rocks laying all over the place, Yet at
the same time it was unique, actually beautiful. Once we got
on top it was fairly level, with a lot of stones in the trail and
that made your feet really tired. The trail went
straight up for about a half a mile, with large boulders. |

I did a 171/2 mile mile day.
Staying at the Leroy A. Smith Shelter. |
