Leaving Bobblets Gap Shelter at 8:00am.  Probably a 13 mile day.  The next shelter has no water, se we'll probably not be staying there.  It didn't rain last night, but its very humid and nothing will dry.  Most people that stayed at the shelter last night were trying to dry out their clothes.
We're back up to the 2,500' elevation coming from the shelter.  We're in the clouds, the valleys are really cloudy.  Can't see anything there.  A lot of humidity and clouds in front of us.
We're at Sharp top mile marker 92 overview with nothing to see but dense fog.
Now we're at Mills Gap elevation 4,235', supposed to be looking over the James River below at 1,585'.  The fog is so thick you could cut it with a butter knife.
Valerie Bailey if your reading the journal I saw in Catawba the day before yesterday, two star magnolia, the blooms were mostly gone, but they were about 6 inched in diameter.  In the court yare I would love to see behind the fish pond one of these beautiful laurels.  The laurel ball are probably 5 inches in diameter and perfectly round.  gay locks should grow in the court yard also.  A little white spiked flower that would be a good mix with other ones.
The haze is lifted enough now that I can see the side of Cove Mountain.  I'll remember going up Cove Mt., my toe caught a root that was going across the trail, down I went, caught myself on my hands and hit my chin a rock and my pack was on top of my head.  But I didn't have any trouble getting up.  Got some rock indentations in my knee. but no blood, no open skin.  Stopped for a bite of lunch at Cove Mountain Shelter.
Coming into Jennings Creek VA Rt. 614, going and stop and rest for a little while.  Below the bridge there's a local swimming hole and I think some of the hikers are stopping their too.  Stopped by the old swimming hole, stopped a little bit and waded in the water, cooled my feet off.  Simon got in the water and swam a little bit.  A local guy that was there gave us a Dr Pepper, tasted really good - it was good and cold.  We are now our way up Fork Mountain.
Saw a lizard like gecko that was brown in color with black zigzags across its body, and had web feet.  A few miles on, we saw another smaller one climbing a tree.
Along the trail near Bryant Ridge Shelter and along the creek, we saw pink foxgloves growing along side the trail. Found several ticks on me.  Probably from the grass along the creek.
Staying tonight at Bryant Ridge Shelter.  Took a cold water bath at the creek.  Certainly makes me feel better after some of the days stink and sweat is washed off.  Gnats are terrible this evening!
